We’re giving our first ever Table Tennis Tournament a go at Martlesham Leisure! 🙌 This is all about having a great laugh and meeting fellow members ••• It is a fun, social competition —not a cut-throat one! 🤣 And as this is our first attempt at running a table tennis tournament, bear with us if there are a few hiccups along the way… we’ll pretend they’re all part of the format. 😂🏓

We’ve only got 16 playing spaces, and they’ll be secured on a first come, first served basis, so if you fancy getting involved, don't hang around. Email [email protected] to grab your spot 📧

Tomorrow, Wednesday 12th August, we’re getting a pretty impressive partial solar eclipse - The biggest/ deepest eclipse since 1999!! 😎

Here in the Ipswich/Suffolk area, it's supposed to look something like this:

🌒 Starts: around 6:16pm
🌑 Maximum eclipse: around 7:12pm
🌘 Ends: around 8:05pm

At its peak, the Moon will cover a huge amount of the Sun, approximately 90%, so fingers crossed for clear skies! 🤞☀️

⚠️ VERY IMPORTANT BIT!

👀 Don’t look directly at the Sun with your naked eyes — even when most of it is covered. You’ll need proper ISO certified eclipse glasses. Normal sunglasses definitely don’t cut it! 🕶️❌

📱Tech Warning: Never point your phone camera, binoculars, or telescopes straight at it without proper solar filters or you'll fry the sensors (and your retinas!).

So get your eclipse glasses ready, find yourself a good spot and keep your fingers crossed that the weather behaves and the clouds stay away! ☁️➡️☀️
