A warm welcome to Ann Baslington-Davies who joins the APBC as an Academic Member!

Ann's doctoral project involved the development of a Structured Professional Judgement instrument for assessing dog bite risk, named DBR24. This represents a new way to assess bite risk by adapting methods used in the well established psychology fields of assessing the risk of violence in humans. It was a cross disciplinary project with Dr Helen Howell and they are working together to make the idea a reality.

Behaviour and physical health are closely connected.

Pain and illness can cause significant behavioural changes, which is why veterinary involvement is such an important part of clinical behaviour work.

It’s also why I require veterinary referral for behaviour consultations.

Sometimes the first clue that something physically isn’t right is simply:

“They’re just not themselves.”
