The Ipswich Twilight Races Through The Years

After the launch in 2015, the Ipswich Twilight Races proved that success wasn’t a fluke as 2016 had more runners, a better atmosphere, and world-class performances. Chris Thompson returned to win the men’s 5k, while Katrina Wootton ran an incredible 15:51 to win the women’s race. It was a true testament to how far this event had come in 12 months.

Ipswich Twilight Races are 10 years old!

The First Race in 2015, the inaugural Ipswich Twilight Races, welcomed 697 runners to the 10k and 84 to the elite 5k. The excitement was palpable as Olympian Chris Thompson led the charge in the men’s 5k. And who could forget Jess Coulson (now Piasecki), who ran a UK-leading time?

Watch this throwback to that first race – what an atmosphere!

The inaugural Twilight Race organised by Ipswich JAFFA Running Club, consisting of an elite 5k and an open 10k run around the town centre.
