Colony Park Girls Under 10’s

Monday night means back to training!
One of the things the girls did well in parts during the weekends game was quick passing and one twos. So we focused on this as well as playing some three touch passing in games. Once they got going the ball was zipping about and goals were flying on. Great to see and good fun!

Today the galaxies made the trip to Fetterangus to play Buchan Diamonds.
What. A. Game!!
Galaxies started really well and were dominant in the first 20. The Diamonds made some changes for the second 20 and the galaxies had to defend well at times while still posing a threat. The last 20 was end to end stuff resulting in a fantastic game.
The galaxies had 5 different scorers today in a brilliant game to watch. Thank you to the diamonds for a great game and lots of fun.

A quick mention for the facilities at Fetterangus. They were unbelievable. A community funded pitch from the profits of a community funded business. Just an amazing story of how a community had worked together to provide an amazing facility for kids to play football and have fun. An inspirational story.

Player of the week - Harriette
Harriette is an outstanding player and does everything well. Trains hard and plays hard with a smile on her face. On Sunday she was involved in some great build up play, playing one twos with her team mates, which actually inspired our training drills for the week - we want to see more quick passing and one twos. She almost scored a cracking goal on Sunday, which we all thought was in until the keeper made a fantastic finger tip save to touch in onto the post. Keep up the good work, Harriette.

The girls trained last night, this time focusing on beating players, with points given on how well that was done.
We also focused on taking advantage of 2v1 situations.
Final drilled focused again on quick one- two passes and using the weaker football.
All followed by some very competitive 6 a side games! Well done girls!

Training on Monday saw a focus on shooting with both feet, trying to get the girls more comfortable shooting with their weaker foot.
We also focused on playing one-two passes that are quick and accurate with some crossing and shooting. This followed on from the game we had on Sunday.

Today six of the colony galaxies were flag bearers at the Aberdeen v Rangers game. The girls were very excited and this is something that they will remember all their lives. A great experience for them and they did us proud.

Today Colony Galaxies hosted Donside Eagles in a very exciting and competitive game at Davidson Park.
The game was end to end, lots of chances and goals for both teams. The galaxies hit the post three times in the game, something we have never seen before.
It was a great game to watch. We’ve said often enough - the galaxies don’t do boring games.
Thanks again to Donside Eagles who were excellent, competitive throughout but always in the right spirit. Well done everyone.
