When training pads try to make it as close to sparing as you can without the contact. Get your partner used to moving different directions, leaning back, ducking, slipping, keeping Range, keeping distance and concentrating for the whole time. Great way to get fitter and more responsive.

More than just martial arts … it’s a community.
One of the things I don’t think people talk about enough is everything that comes with training.
Yes, you’ll improve your fitness and learn real-world self defence, but you’ll also build confidence, reduce stress, improve your self-esteem and become part of a supportive community that wants to see you succeed.
There’s something incredibly empowering about knowing you can take care of yourself while training alongside great people who encourage you every step of the way.
If you’ve been thinking about starting, this could be the perfect opportunity.
Basic Self Defence. Learn how to keep your hands up, cover yourself and hit impactful. It’s very important to learn how to get out of certain techniques but it doesn’t mean a lot if you can’t hold your hands, up so Practice with someone if you’re not getting yourself to a class.. have a great day!
Someone mentioned this could hurt your knee, which is a good point.
Though done properly, it won’t.
But more importantly, real situations aren’t perfect.
Be mentally prepared take a knock.
The priority is getting home safe.
It’s not always about striking.
Sometimes control is the smarter option.
Create the reaction → slip → takedown → control.
Most trouble doesn’t start with violence… it starts with ego.
Road rage. Arguments. Someone says something and you feel like you have to respond.
That’s how people lose control.
Anyone can fight. That’s easy.
Real strength is staying in control when someone else is trying to take it from you.
Simple wall takedown.
You don’t need complicated techniques when it matters. Positioning, balance, and control will always beat overthinking.
This is why we train for real situations — keeping it simple, effective, and under pressure.
