Huntly FC Women

The starting lineup in today’s Championship & League One Cup tie was our youngest ever team to play in a competitive fixture.

With an average age of 19 years the lineup had 5 players aged 17 and 3 players age just 16 years old in it.

Playing against an experienced Forfar Farmington side today was a chance for them to show just where they are at as players due to the large injury list currently at first team level.

A young Huntly FC Women side exited the Championship & League One cup this afternoon at the hands of an experienced Forfar Farmington side.

With 11 players missing due to injury Huntly went into the match with Forfar up against it from the off and competed well for the opening half hour eventually being undone by to well worked Forfar goals and a strike from outside the box on the stroke of halftime.

The second half would take the same shape as the first half with two quick fire goals midway through the half before Bethany Cochranes effort was diverted into her own net by a Forfar defender and a Forfar grabbed a sixth late on.

Huntly finished the match with seven u18 players on the pitch after losing Charley Henderson and Lucy Taylor also to injury during the match, the youngsters acquitted themselves well and gained some valuable experience against the experienced opposition.

The reward for Saturdays 6-5 win over holders Bayside 18s for our 18s Development squad is an away trip to Glasgow to face Rossvale 18s.

The match is scheduled for Saturday 12th September .

This weekend sees the first round of the ScottishPower National League Cup where we face a tough trip to Championship opposition Forfar Farmington at Station Park, Forfar on Sunday at 12pm.

From Ayr to Airdrie, from Stenny to Denny, this Sunday will see the start of the 26/27 ScottishPower National League Cup. Good luck to all teams!

Today’s Huntly FC Women Player of the Match in our loss at Westdyke was our #13 Preanka Nahal.

In a physical encounter at Lawsondale Huntly conceded two late goals as Westdyke edged an entertaining encounter 3-2.

Huntly scorers were 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐡 𝐌𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐬 and 𝐋𝐮𝐜𝐲 𝐓𝐚𝐲𝐥𝐨𝐫.

We move on to next weekends League Cup match away to Championship side Forfar Farmington at Station Park.

It’s Matchday 4 of the SWF Championship/League One season and we make the short journey to Westdyke at Lawsondale, Westhill.
