Junior Yard Assistant Programme
We are pleased to offer young riders the opportunity to help out at the stables as part of our **Junior Yard Assistant Programme**.
To ensure the safety and welfare of both horses and participants, all riders must successfully complete a **Junior Yard Assistant Competency Assessment** before assisting on the yard.
Assessments can be completed in one of two ways:
* During one of our scheduled **Junior Yard Assistant Assessment Days**, or
* By booking a **30-minute private assessment session**.
The assessment criteria will be made available prior to the assessment date, allowing riders to prepare and practise the required skills.
The assessment is designed to ensure riders can demonstrate safe horse handling, good yard practice, an understanding of horse welfare, and the ability to follow instructions appropriately.
Upon successful completion of the assessment, riders will receive a **Junior Yard Assistant Certificate** and will be permitted to assist with approved yard duties under the supervision of a member of staff.
📢 **Important Update – Jump Lessons**
To help us continue providing the highest standards of horse welfare, as of 1st July 2026 all private and semi private jump lessons will incur an additional **£5 charge** per rider.
Our horses' health and wellbeing will always come first. Jumping places greater physical demands on horses than flatwork, and we carefully manage how often each horse jumps to prevent fatigue, strain, and unnecessary wear and tear.
The additional charge helps us maintain appropriate lesson schedules, ensuring our horses are not over-jumped and receive the care, rest, and management they need to remain happy, healthy, and comfortable in their work.
By supporting this change, you are helping us put horse welfare first while continuing to provide safe, enjoyable, and high-quality jumping lessons.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support. 🐴💚
