Well done to Striders Paul, Lucy and Steven for running Heptonstall Festival Race on Saturday! 💚

At 6 miles / 1700ft, this race is the shorter companion to the main fell race in March, and is one of many attractions at HepFest - a community-funded event based in the Calderdale Village you may recognise from BBC's The Gallows Pole. Of course nothing ends a spell of scorching weather like an outdoor event, so on Saturday the clouds came out, and rain ensured the cobbles were slippy and the woodland trails particularly treacherous... Fortunately these are standard fell running conditions and the runners were glad of a breeze after the relentless climb up to the moors!

Thanks to Heptonstall Hurriers and the volunteers who made the race and Heptonstall Festival such an enjoyable day out! We always highly recommend the Festival Race and the main Fell Race to our members and any other keen runners! YORKSHIRE VETs league took the Strider crew to South Leeds & Middleton Woods on Thursday for a fast undulating trail race.

Another fantastic turn out to get those all important team points.

Bringing home the age cat prizes were:

Massive congratulations to Strider Duane, who took on Trail Escape’s Manchester 25km in scorching conditions last weekend. Despite the heat, the climbs, and the rugged trail, he delivered an incredible 2:34 finish, which is also a PB!

Well done to Strider Mark for racing the Millbrook Monster on Tuesday! 💚

This 10k race covers the trails up to the moors around Stalybridge Country Park, and having been forced to defer his place in a 25k race this weekend due to injury, this was a good test of Mark's trail legs! We're very glad he got round in one piece, and look forward to seeing him continue in his recovery and training ahead of some big events later in the year 🤞

Well done to Strider Aaron for racing Blencathra Fell Race on Sunday! 💚

Packing almost 3000ft of elevation into under 8 miles, the route is challenging and technical, but dry weather made for good conditions underfoot. This was the fourth of six races included in this year's English Senior Fell Running Championship, and Aaron has made it to every race in the series so far - proper dedication! 💪

The weather may have cooled down slightly but the Striders kept the heat on full gas as we took to the Lindley streets on Sunday.

Some excellent running and repping from the green team Natalie, Mark, Mac, Rachel, Sam, Emma, Daniel, Anthony & Cleggy with some fantastic times to be proud of.

Our rising star and relative new Strider Callum was again front of the pack, just weeks after winning the colne Valley 10km bringing home a 2nd place in a very respectable time of 34.43 setting himself a new 10km PB in the process!!

Well done to Strider Gary for racing Barnsley 10k on Sunday!

The largest-scale running event in the area, and this year bigger than ever before, the race hosted over 2,000 runners on the roads around Barnsley town centre! It was put on by Barnsley Council as part of the campaign to 'Move More, Live Well, Feel Better' - a message that also sums up what we aim to do at Striders 💚

Gary finished in an impressive 43rd place, taking 3rd in his age category! Gary's out racing most weekends, but doesn't always shout about it or get photos, so thanks to Mick Hall Photos for this great action shot 📸
