A disappointing weekend as we couldn't claim the chocolates in any of the three matches. Thanks to Moor Farm Shop for supporting our weekly round-up.
Olly Lodge put in an all-round performance, while Ben Gash's innings was the backbone of the response as our Sunday team pushed the league leading Lightcliffe all the way. We ended up one run short in our chase; with Lightcliffe at 158/2 we could have been chasing a lot more, but we closed out the bowling innings well. A partnership of 124 between Lodge & Gash got us to a similar spot of 155/1, and at his dismissal we needed 54 off 46; and ended up just falling short in spite of a cameo of 18 off14 balls from Mark Turner.
After the loss of the openers early, there were a number of starts around James Howson's innings of 87 (66). Lodge and Wilson both scored 21, while Falconio (27*) and Smith (15*) helped us scramble to a total above five an over. We weren't able to really create any pressure with ball in hand, with four bowlers going at above 8 runs per over. North & Rothery combined for 47 runs off 17 overs but Delph managed to chase down the score with 6.1 overs remaining.
Scholes put on a batting clinic at Golcar, as we weren't able to build any bowling partnerships throughout - some of that being our ex*****on, some of that being quality running between wickets and batmanship. It was a very good batting wicket, and a great opportunity for our batters to put together a score in response. However, we weren't able to do that, and in spite of some late order runs, we were comfortably beaten.

On Saturday 27th June, our U9 team headed to Rastrick and had a great day, ending up winning the tournament. This was a great achievement with lots of players undertaking their first season of matches.
Well done to the team, and the coaches who have been helping them all through the season.
Here are the ten wickets that our 2nds took on Saturday to secure the win against Almondbury Wesleyans. All the wickets were taken by players who were juniors at the club - how good.
On Sunday, Jack Rothery scored a ton for our Sunday XI. Snapper has had a great season so far, contributing with bat and his developing offspin. He should be proud of the progress he's made in the current season.
He's sponsored by TMS Software, and we appreciate their support.

Thanks to the support of Bolster Moor Farm Shop, here's the summary of the weekend's results.
Despite losing access to a new ball after two deliveries, the 1sts did a good job in the field restricting Almondbury Wesleyans on Saturday. They did a good job recovering in the lower order, getting themselves to a score around par, but our bowling and fielding efforts were of good standard. We had a solid first half in reply, but when rain came at drinks, we were behind the Duckworth Lewis target and couldn't get back on.
The 2nds had a good win with plenty of people chipping in; main highlight with the bat being Will North continuing his good form, and plenty of reports back about how good the afternoon tea was. (Fajitas?! Blooming heck Hev). The bowling spoils were shared around as it was a comprehensive win getting the 2nds back around the top two in the league.
After winning the toss on Sunday, not much else went well in the Sykes Cup semi final. A number of batters got starts without going on - Max Turner batted the best, hitting some lovely strokes but our score was never likely to be enough. It turned out that it wasn't even enough to outlast the fielding restrictions, and we were done quite early.
The 3rds had a hectic first innings; as Sowerby Bridge went from 73/2 to 105/7 - before recovering to 196 - all this happening within 31 overs. In response, Jack Rothery & Enzo Piscitelli put on 104 for the first wicket - but we then lost four wickets for 2 runs! Mark Turner joined Jack and put together a partnership that made the game safe, and Snapper reached his ton while Mark finished the game in style, hitting four boundaries in five balls to secure the win.
