Lindley Swifts U16’s 58-18 Kippax Welfare U16’s 05/07/2026

The last league game of the season! Not really what we wanted having to drop down to 11v11 after the away team had low numbers but a job still had to be done.

Kick off saw Kippax cross the side line giving Lindley early good ball and Oliver ‘OC’ Crowther took full advantage running strongly to cross the whitewash 4-0. 5 minutes later the boys switched off defensively giving Kippax the opportunity to score 4-4. Zane Horsefall was the next to make an impression shooting out of the ruck through a gap setting up ‘OC’ to cross for his 2nd 10-4. Kippax then applied the pressure kicking into our in goal area only for Riley Lovelady to carry us brilliantly 50m upfield, a broken defensive line allowed Peter Musengay to run clear and score 16-4. Next to make his mark was Javae Cupples Tinker to break tackles and score a trademark 70m try 22-4. Another kick off, another mistake which gave the home team possession and after a strong back set Peter Musengay raced through again to score his 2nd try 26-4. Kippax again showed their intent and a lapse in the home defence allowed them to score their 2nd try 26-10. With half time looming a scrum down play gave Javae the chance to crash over the whitewash 30-10 HT.

2nd half kick off Javae took a massive back fence carry straight through the defence to score a classy full length try 36-10. The young swifts then switched off from kick off and again Kippax took their chance 36-14. The game then got a bit flat with either team gaining any momentum until Kyron ‘Offiah’ Parchment managed to dance his way through numerous tackles to score 42-14. Kippax again came back at us moving the ball well out wide to score again 42-14. 2 mins later the elusive Dexter ‘Hoody’ Hood dummies the defence to open up a gap and glide through to score 46-18. Next an opposition error was gathered by Javae who flew down the right touchline before setting up Hoody for his 2nd try 52-18. With the away teams heads bowing Peter Musengay crashed through the defensive wall and charged 70m to again score under the sticks. Final score 58-18.

A great win to round off what has been a fantastic season from the outstanding U16’s. On reflection this team should have won this league if it wasn’t for such a slow start!

MoM-Wil ‘Dyseyboy’ Dyson- Guided the attack around the field with class, topping it off with some strong defence.

P/P-Josh Jackson-Mr reliable gave it his all as usual finished off with a well taken conversion.

Oppo-Javae Cupples Tinker-A quiet first 20 mins but as soon as this lad turned it up a notch he was unstoppable adding another hatrick to his tally.

THE LAST DANCE… Lindley swifts under 16s welcome Kippax to Birchencliffe in a game which pits the league leaders against a very impressive third place Kippax (12:00 kick off). This will be the Swifts 16s last competitive league fixture of the season, and if results over the next two weeks go their way could see them sn**ch the league title at the death.

The boys will need all the support they can get for this royal rumble of a match. It may well be your last chance to see some of these talented players pull on the Swifts jersey so don’t miss it.

Lindley Swifts U16’s 64-10 Milford U16’s 21/06/2026

Yesterday’s task for the 16’s was a home game against a Milford side that earlier in the season pushed our lads all the way in a great encounter.

The first 10 minutes turned out to be a cagey affair with neither team really taking a hold of the game until Oliver ’Oc’ Crowther took the game by the scruff of the neck and hit a great lead line to split the defence and score 6-0. It was the Milfords turn to pounce after an offload fell into the opposition hands to score unopposed 6-6. The boys then from a great kick off forced a drop out after a strong defensive effort. Big carries from Seth Lawton and Alfie ‘Lionheart’ Haley gave Lucas ‘Big Boy’ Foster the space to attack the line and score 12-6. 3 minutes later a quality back set allowed Peter Musengay to brush off tackles and offload to the inform Kyron ‘Offiah’ Parchment to score under the sticks 18-6. Boyed by the dominance in attack OC ran another brilliant unders line tipping on to Offiah to score his 2nd under the sticks 24-6. Pressure was starting to affect the away team and another drop out saw Issac carry strongly into the opposition half splitting the defence and allowing Lucas ‘Big Boy’ Foster to crash over from short range 30-6. Milford then mounted their own attack and a last tackle kick to the corner was gathered by Riley Lovelady who is unstoppable over 100m 34-6. HT

Same again was the call after half time team talk and it took only 4 minutes for Javae Cupples Tinker to take advantage of a 6 again call to break the line and score 38-6. The next 10 minutes got a bit messy due to the heat out there but great work from our backs carrying hard gave the opportunity for Javae to take advantage of the messy defensive line and score his 2nd try 44-6. The next set saw Milford press hard in defence allowing Dexter ‘Hoody’ Hood the vision to kick over the top for Peter Musengay to neatly collect the kick and score a well worked try 48-6. 5 minutes passed before the next knock on from the away team gave head and feed to Lindley, from the resulting scrum Hoody hit an axe to Offiah who went at the defence saw a gap and was gone 54-6. Again the boys attacked and a training ground move Saints was the call giving Big Boy the opportunity to again crash over from close range 58-6. A brief lapse in concentration from kick off gave Milford field position and with credit due took their chance to score 58-10. Finish on a high we said and Alfie ‘Lionheart’ Haley didn’t disappoint busting tackles to score his first try of the season Final score 64-10.

Another team performance in which anyone out there was worthy of an award and with Stanningley losing today sets up an interesting end to the season.

Mom-Kyron ‘Offiah’ Parchment- This lad is on top form lately and 3 tries today summed up a class performance.

Oppo-Oliver ‘Oc’ Crowther - Untill he came off injured Oc was by far having his best game of the season. The lines he ran today were unstoppable.

Joint P/P
Josh Jackson - The last couple of games this lad has run his blood to water and his intensity is being noticed by his teammates.
Lucas ‘Big Boy’ Foster - Another player in top form with also 3 tries to his name today, an unstoppable force lately.

We hope all the dads had a wonderful Fathers Day from all at Lindley Swifts. We await a response from Shawcross for our game next weekend and are still working hard on friendlies to try keep this great team together as long as we can.

Garforth Tigers U16’s 6-36 Lindley Swifts U16’s 14/06/2026

Today the U16’s travelled across the m62 to take on Garforth Tigers looking to take their winning league streak to 6 unbeaten after a great win against Stanningley.

To start, both teams observed a minutes silence in respect of Ronan ❤️🖤🤍

Garforths small pitch would prove to be a midfield battle which played out as expected for the first 7 mins before the opposition finally buckled and knocked on. The resulting scrum produced a slick move out to Kyron ‘Offiah’ Parchment to attack the line and offload to Riley Lovelady to score in the corner 0-4. Battle again commenced down the middle before Zane Horsefall darted out of the ruck finding a hole in the defensive line and smartly tipping on to Dexter ‘Hoody’ Hood to score 0-10. Next to break the line was Lucas ‘Big Boy’ Foster who again spotted the great support from Hoody and allow him to grab his 2nd try 0-16. Kick off saw some huge carries from Josh Jackson, Oliver ‘OC’ Crowther, big Foz and Issac before Peter Musengay scooted from dummy half to beat numerous defenders and score under the sticks 0-22 half time.

The start of the 2nd half mirrored the first with sets traded before a yellow card saw the boys down to 12. Offiah though was not to be deterred scoring a brilliant solo effort 0-28. Back to 13 it wasn’t long before we were again back to 12 after another yellow was brandished. This put our defensive line under huge pressure and numerous penalties cost the lads with Garforth finally breaching the defences and. crossing the line 6-28. Back to 13 again the forwards pressed their dominant display making big yards every carry. A scrum 20m out saw Javae Cupples Tinker spring into life and get himself on the scoresheet 6-32. 2 minutes later saw another smart move down our left edge with Hoody splitting the defence shooting through the gap and feeding Marcus Tooth to get in on the action 6-36.

There was a man of the match in every player out there today whether they started or came on as sub and shows why these lads are on such a great run lately!

Coaches - Dexter ‘Hoody’ Hood This was a hard decision due to the team performance but 2 tries and an assist shows this young man is on top form.

Players Player - Josh Jackson His teammates truly appreciated the impact he made when coming on with his huge carries.

Oppo - Lucas ‘Big Boy’ Foster Garforth captain gave him this due to his continuous work ethic and line breaks, leading his pack to a dominant display.

Good luck to our boys next week in the last of their exams and look ahead to our next match at home against Milford.

Lindley Swifts U16’s 20-12 Stanningley U16’s 30/05/2026

Today saw arguably the top 2 teams in the league lock horns for the 3rd time this season with the young swifts looking for some retribution for 2 defeats earlier in the season.

The game kicked off as expected between 2 top teams defending strongly, trading set for set with neither team taking a backward step. The home team were the first to take advantage though as the ball moved quickly through our half backs ‘Hoody’ and ‘Dyseboy’ out to the edge to allow Riley Lovelady to finish a great move 4-0. Kick off saw a knock on from Lindley who defended the next set well, but resulted in a drop out under the sticks. Up stepped Javae Cupples Tinker to contest and win the kick and charge 70m upfield before tipping on to Adam ‘ the hot steppa’ Foster to cross the white wash 10-0. Minutes later Stanningley finally broke the defensive line to score 10-6 half time.

The half time regroup seemed to spur the boys on and after good defensive pressure and 2 errors from Stanningley our outstanding fullback Kyron ‘Offiah’ Parchment rocked up on the left edge to score 14-6. The away team came out firing and started making good meters upfield through their pack but the U16’s held out well. Again sets were traded for the next 10 mins as expected from 2 great teams before set restarts took their toll and we conceded a try 14-12. This set up a grandstand finish with tiredness staring to creep in so did the errors. Great goal line d first saw Stanningley knock on, scrum on the 10m line with 1 minute to go. A knock on from the base of the scrum saw the swifts facing 1 last attacking play. The away team had to go for it and attacked our right edge throwing a massive pass straight into the arms of Riley Lovelady to scorch the turf and score a full length try. Final score 20-12.

What a game, what a performance! These young men have been building something special lately cementing their place as one of the best teams in the league!

Mom - Kyron ‘Offiah’ Parchment-Today this lad showed why he is so highly rated. His kick returns gained massive metres, scored a great try and saved the game with an unbelievable try saving cover tackle.

Oppo - Lucas ‘Big Boy’ Foster- Coaches described him as a menace cutting through the line like a knife through butter with an energetic defensive performance.

Players player - Riley Lovelady- 2 great tries from the elusive back showing how integral this young man has been to the swifts this season.

Also welcome back Mr T and Marcus Tooth from long term injuries fitting back into the team as if they had never been gone!

Next weeks match looks like it’s going to be postponed so please keep your eye out for a possible friendly incoming.
