Hi Caroline. There's no reason that something like this couldn't be used as a habitable space. We have built garden buildings in the past that have been used as bedrooms or combined office/summerhouse/occasional bedroom. Someone in my family even has one that works as a self contained flat for a house with limited space for visitors but a big garden, giving the family's visitors a space where they can relax and sleep without getting "under each others feet." There is a requirement for planning permission etc. when used in this way, but it's getting more and more common. Thanks, Andy.
