Norman Richter brings his team a paddlers looking for big water.
What follow is the flattest and hottest consecutive days I've had on Anglesey in a long time.
So we did some large paddles like around Holy Island. And of course played where possible.
We still had a super time! Thanks for been a great team to enjoy some calmer days with!

Your paddle isn't your balance. Your body is!

One of our favorite coaching exercises always gets the same reaction.
We arrive at a stretch of tidal water, and you can see that - 'hmm, that looks interesting' faces. 🫤🌊
Instead of paddling through, I ask them to drift with their paddle held up, no support strokes, no bracing. Just good posture, relaxed hips, and letting the kayak move naturally.
Then we turn it into a game. Each time your paddle touches the water, it counts as a point - simple. The goal is fewest strokes possible. 💡

What usually happens?
People realize the kayak is more stable than expected. They stop reacting to every little movement, and learn to trust their balance.
This isn't about showing off. It's about confidence.

Once paddlers stop leaning on their paddle for reassurance, the tool becomes what it's meant to be. Precise, efficient, and enjoyable. Sometimes the biggest step forward is discovering how little you actually need the paddle.
The Paddle shouldn't be a crutch but a tool to move the kayak. 🩼= x 🛞=✅️

A small number of places are available on our Donegal trip departing this Saturday.

📅 Saturday 27th June – Saturday 4th July

We depart Holyhead on the 02:00 ferry to Dublin, arriving in Donegal during the afternoon. The trip includes up to 6 potential paddling days, with one flexible rest day for exploring the area, relaxing, or enjoying some of Donegal's famous hospitality.

This trip is aimed at intermediate sea kayakers looking to explore one of Europe's finest paddling destinations. Expect stunning cliffs, islands, caves, rock-hopping opportunities, wildlife, surf beaches and beautiful coastal scenery.

Included:
✔ Experienced guiding from Craig Leslie, Stuart Leslie and Ciaran Butler
✔ Campsite pitch booked for the duration of the trip
✔ Sheltered cooking and social facilities on site
✔ Transport available from Holyhead in our minibus and trailer
