What a really nice post just about sums up tomorrow thank you West of Anglesey: Ynys Cybi- Holy Island it’s greatly appreciated from all the teamπŸ˜ƒπŸ₯°πŸ‘

Regarded as one of the UKs toughest marathons, the Cybi Coastal Marathon takes place this Saturday 1 August with almost 600 runners due to take part in the two races - the full course and the C25K (half marathon) .

Starting & finishing at Holyhead RNLI Lifeboat Station , this circumnavigation of Ynys Cybi – Holy Island – is at 26.2 miles, a natural marathon distance loop. The route largely follows the Anglesey Coastal Path covering a variety of terrain - paths, tracks, beaches, including tricky cliff tops , and a short sharp climb to the top of Holyhead Mountain – Mynydd Twr and back down to sea level.

400 runners have signed up for the marathon which starts at 09:00. There’s also a half marathon C25K which starts at 10:00 & new for this year, a β€œKids Fun Run” around the Newry Promenade starting once the other runners have departed.

Organised by three locals – Andy Williams, James Harper and Kristian Cuffin – it’s a "not for profit" event, raising funds for the local RNLI stations whilst striving to be as sustainable as possible.

To all the runners, organisers , volunteers and marshals - Good Luck – Pob Lwc! πŸ‘

Yes, it’s that time of year again and with less than 24 hours to go, we the Cybi Coastal Marathon Team would like to wish all runners a safe and enjoyable day. To all our volunteers and marshalls, thank you for giving up your time and to everyone else please feel free to join us down at the RNLI station Holyhead to support our great event which donates money to two worthy causes both Holyhead and Trearddur Bay lifeboat stations.

We have three races going on our main event the marathon 9am also the 25K 10am and the kids race 11am also we have refreshments provided by the Burger Guy, Mon Ice, Ynys Mon Sweets.

Cuffs Coffee and the Sailing Club are also open for refreshments and a beer.

Lastly, I would like to remind all runners to properly hydrate drinking plenty of water and eating nutritionally 24 prior to the race this will help you get round our route which is undoubtedly tough but rewarding and provides some of the most spectacular scenery an event like this has to offer. Good luck to you all

β›°οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ T-MINUS 2 days πŸƒπŸ»β€β™‚οΈ ⛰️

In just over 48 hours, 600 of you will embark on the worlds best marathon (in our opinion πŸ˜‰)…

Registration opens from 7:30am, so for those that need to collect bibs please make your may over. Remember marathon race kicks off at 9am and C25K at 10am so try to come with enough time to spare and to answer any questions you might have.

Few questions we always get;

are the checkpoints loaded with food and drink? Yes, water and sugary snacks will be available.

Can we use poles? Of course, no rules against not using them.

Can supporters access the route? Yes, it’s all coastal and public footpath and easily accessible.

What is the cut off? A generous 9 hours for marathon and 8 hours for 25k

We really are looking forward to welcoming you all again for what will be our third year together as a team and event πŸ˜„

🚨 🚨 *** IMPORTANT NOTICE *** 🚨 🚨

We have been made aware of work currently being undertaken on the route between alpoco and Trearddur bay.

This heavily affects the route for the 25K and despite efforts, we cannot continue through. Therefor, we have made the decision to reroute the 25K - you will now double back on yourself coming off Beibio coastal path and head towards Kingsland school and then take the cycle path to Tbay old road and align with the original 25k route.

All GPX files have been updated and available on the website - communication will also be given in the morning brief. Really sorry for the short notice.

Looking forward to seeing you all Saturday πŸ˜€

Helloooo everyone!!

Race instructions will be arriving in your email boxes very, very shortly 😬😬!

Some key points to note that differs from previous years -

Registration will be open from 7:30am on the morning of the race, please come over and collect your bibs for those that didn’t opt in for postage..

Timing boxes - there will be TWO separate locations where timing boxes will be in place; Trearddur Bay & Track down to North Stack. YOU must pass through these to avoid disqualification, they will be manned so shouldn’t have issues finding them. This will also allow a live racing leaderboard to take place, and keep the race/route honest.

Checkpoints - we will fill these up with water and some sugary and fruity snacks, however the onus remains on you as runners to ensure you remain hydrated and energised throughout the race, it is after all an endurance race!

We are really excited to see you all down on the start line for what is our 3rd year as a team together!
