Tony Hughes Cup final

Tonight saw Caernarfon versus Bangor at Holyhead.

Unfortunately Bangor struggled to make a team to take on Caernarfon, but everyone gave a great performance.

The presentation was made by Tony Hughes’s daughter in law in the presence of son Nigel, grandsons Dave, Dan & Jamie and son in law Steve.

Tony would have been so proud to see so many of the family taking up the game of bowls and thanked the league for allowing us to keep his memory alive.

Thank you to Holyhead bowling club for their hospitality, especially Stan for preparing a lovely spread and Brenda for serving refreshments. Thank you to the measurers and markers.

Finally, congratulations go to runners up Bangor and the winners Caernarfon.

Last night was the final of the Festival Cup 🏆

Along the way we came up against Academi Llanfair, Menai Bridge and Bethesda and it was a great achievement to get to the final against Llanfair.

With the new handicap system in place for 2026, we were up +46 and Llanfair +27. After the first 4 blocks Llanfair managed to close the 19 point lead.

Unfortunately, we were unable to gain a lead in the next 4 blocks and Llanfair were the worthy winners.

A massive congratulations to the Holyhead team who fought hard in every game and it is a great achievement to get to the final.

Our congratulations go to Llanfair for winning the cup, very worthy winners 👏
