Holmbridge CC Holmbridge Cricket Club, Nr Holmfirth, West Yorkshire. Formed in 1868, we have 2 adult teams playing in the Huddersfield Cricket League. Always welcome.

And 5 junior teams (U9, U11, U13, U15, U17) playing in the Huddersfield Junior Cricket League.

A great afternoon was had by all at the Junior Presentation. Huge congrats to all the individual award winners, plus a massive well done to everyone else who pulled on the Bridge shirt this season.

The club and all of our coaches couldn’t be prouder of how everyone has progressed through the season. From the under 9s taking their first ever cricket games, right through U11s, U13s, U15s and to the U17s who some will have played their last games as a junior. Hopefully we’ll see you progressing further into the adult teams in 2027.

And a huge thank you to all the parents, brothers, sisters and grandparents for bringing their young cricketers to all the games and training sessions. We hope you’ve had as much fun as them.

And finally a thank you to our amazing coaching team who all give their time and skills for free. Without all of these moving parts the club wouldn’t survive, and hopefully we’re all here for a lot longer yet.

💙 This weeks spotlight is Kieran Gillott-power

🗓️ Kieran is in his first season at Holmbridge having signing this year from local team Scholes where he played for many years coming up through their juniors. Our first team opening bowler already with 21 wickets to his name at the Bridge. Plus a hard hitting middle order batter with over 200 runs so far this season. And looking likely to bag the 1st XI Andrew MacLeod catching award with already an impressive 15 catches. Certainly one to watch for the future at Holmbridge.

📣 IMPORTANT SAD ANNOUNCEMENT 📣

☕🏏 THE TEA LADIES ARE HANGING UP THEIR APRONS!

After an incredible 16 years, our three legendary 1st XI tea ladies — Fran Hazlewood-Mosby Sarah Gledhill and Emma — are calling time on their tea-making duties. ❤️

Most clubs gave up the proper cricket tea years ago. Sandwiches on a plate, job done. Not at the Bridge. For 16 seasons, Fran, Sarah and Emma have kept the knife-and-fork sit-down tea alive, every Saturday, whatever the scoreline, whatever the weather — a tradition most of the game has quietly let go of.

That’s not just hospitality. That’s three people deciding, week after week, that this club deserved the proper version of things. Their teas have been as much a part of our Saturdays as wickets, boundaries and discussions with the umpire! 😂

So from everyone at Holmbridge Cricket Club — a massive THANK YOU for 16 years of dedication, hard work, and quite frankly, blooming amazing teas. 👏👏👏

You’ve earned your retirement… although we’re not ruling out the odd emergency cake appearance. 🍰😉

💙 This seasons penultimate spotlight is

🗓️ Joe is in his first season at Holmbridge having signed this year from local team Meltham, where he spent the last 1 1/2 seasons. A wicket keeper/batsman with just shy of 1000 runs to his name alongside over 40 victims with the gloves. Made an instant impact into the first XI away at Broad Oak with a stella 43 in his first knock for the 1s, which included a solid stand of 61 with Ethan. We’re all looking forward to Joe’s future at the Bridge.

💙 This weeks spotlight is Oliver Hardcastle

🗓️ Oliver has played at Holmbridge since he was a junior. Starting out in the Under 13s in 2019. And then making his senior debut in 2022 against Cartworth Moor, whilst still playing in the Under 15s. Somewhere along the way he’s managed to blag 11 overs with the ball, taking 2 wickets along the way! But its as a keeper that Oliver is best known, where he’s fast approaching 60 victims and as a batter fast closing in on his first 1000 runs for the club.
