We are offering for sale the most wonderful schoolmistress. April, as she is known at home, has truly been there, seen, and done it all.

Dressage Highlights: Recently, April has helped her rider learn the ropes up to PSG level in pure dressage. She placed 3rd at the Medium Area Festival, consistently scoring in the high 68%s. She has also competed in a couple of PSGs and will happily guide another rider to this level. In the boards, she is incredibly light on her feet for a bigger horse. She is currently ridden by a small adult but has the frame to easily carry a taller rider. She is fully established in all lateral work, and her tempi changes are continually improving.

Jumping & Eventing History: In the past, April evented successfully up to 4* level. While she is no longer suited for top-level eventing, she would be fantastic for someone looking to compete at the lower levels (up to 2*). She is naturally careful and sharp over show jumps.
The only reason she is for sale is that her current rider wishes to pursue top-level eventing, and we feel April has earned a step down from that intensity.

Temperament & Care: April is an affectionate mare to look after. She hacks out beautifully, both alone and in company. In the field, she prefers her own space from other horses but is never malicious and does not look for trouble.

Health & Management:From her high-level eventing days, April was successfully rehabilitated from a rare hind tendon injury. She has required no specific management since and has gone on to compete successfully at PSG this year. She has many more years of competitive life left in her, whether focusing on pure dressage or lower-level eventing.

Note: April also bred a foal as a 3-year-old.

It’s always so lovely to hear from horses that have had such big parts in our lives.
Last week at the Pony Club Championships Queen Theillet finished individual 6th in the eventing. Arya and Queen have had a cracking first year together with many double clears.
Queen Theillet was Maddie’s ‘wonder pony’ who took her round her first BE novices and first international 2*s. It’s great to see Arya enjoying her as much as Maddie did. Ayra and Laura, Ayra’s mum keep in constant contact with Maddie which she absolutely loves!

Bonza King of Rouges has WON two sashes this month! As his and Izzy’s team won the at Pony Club Championship, with King and Izzy taking the individual win in the qualifier.
So nice to see him out enjoying himself. Thank you for looking after the old man so well, we know he isn’t as easy as he can look!

Well done Izzy and Ayra and of course King and Queen!

An exciting new chapter! 🎉

Maddie is moving on to the final stages of her Elite Professional Sports Apprenticeship (AESE) with Haddon Training.
Having been based with Birch Equestrian for the last year, while trying to juggle 5 competition horses in and around that work and her apprenticeship work! Maddie has made the decision to base her work back with Tapner Eventing Team, for her final couple of months. This will mean she can focus more on her competition horses, start to set up her own side of Tapner Eventing Team and use this time to do her stage 3 and coaching qualifications, making use of the riding school we have based with us to help her get going!

With this now not just a plan, but a reality! Maddie is now actively looking for clients……. If anyone is looking for somewhere to place their horse/es for breaking and starting their campaigns or schooling whether jumping or flat at Wickstead or locally or holiday livery, please do get in contact or pass on our details.
Maddie is also available for teaching, she has her DBS and is starting off her next chapter with a safeguarding course booked to do in the next couple of weeks, so any Pony Clubs looking for a young, keen instructor please do get in touch! (Maddie holds her PC B test). She is also in the process of booking in for her Stage 3 and coaching exams imminently! 📚

As Maddie starts to take over the helm here, it will allow Paul and Georgina to move more side ways from the physical side of the yard. Paul is busy with his Pivot Productions work, his teaching and clinics (plus a small bit of riding! 😜 ) and Georgina with her teaching, riding and her new role as part of the Haddon Training AESE Team.
For the last few months Ellie and Izzy have helped them massively to keep the physical side moving, thank you!
Especially as Georgina is half way through two operations for a partial knee replacement, so has been off physical duties nearly altogether! 🙈 Meaning, we are all very much looking forward to Maddie taking over her own horses! 😜and creating her own role within the team.

Paul and Georgina are still available as before for any training, but are excited to see how Maddie’s new chapter develops!
