Of all your child’s activities, make swimming a priority 💙🏊‍♀️

Football, dance, gymnastics and other activities are fantastic for children — but swimming is different.

Swimming isn’t just a hobby or a sport. It’s a life skill.

Giving your child the confidence and skills to be safer around water is something they can carry with them for life.

So when life gets busy and you’re juggling activities, make swimming one of the priorities. 💦

It’s okay to say NO 💙

As a swimming teacher and an adult, I’m automatically in a position of authority. That’s why I make sure my swimmers know they’re allowed to say no.

If I ask a swimmer to put their eyes in the water and they say “no”, I thank them for telling me. 🙌

Why? Because saying no to an adult can be hard — and that “no” gives me valuable information. It tells me they’re uncomfortable, so I can listen, adapt and help them feel safer.

I don’t want swimmers to simply do something because I’m the teacher. I want them to trust me enough to tell me how they feel.

And communication builds trust. 💙🏊‍♀️

Meet Rayn 💙 She joined our crash course this summer feeling very nervous on Monday, but quickly made amazing progress! Not wanting to get her hair wet on Monday to being excited about jumping in the deep end on Friday.

I believe progress starts with **trust**. By communicating honestly, explaining each activity, listening to fears, adapting to individual needs, and offering gentle encouragement, swimmers can build confidence and achieve so much. 🏊‍♀️✨

Creative, engaging and interactive learning is the best kind of learning for children. When learning feels like fun, children develop vital skills without even realising it, building confidence and igniting a passion that helps them progress even faster.

This morning, our swimmers had a fantastic time learning and practising their breaststroke. Lots of smiles, plenty of fun, and some amazing progress in the pool! 🏊‍♂️💦

I’ve just had a cancellation for my 9am crash course slot tomorrow at Alfriston.

I also have a few 30-minute slots available next week. You can book your child in for just the odd day or for the whole week — whatever works best for you.
