Rain? We didn’t let that stop us 🌧️❤️

What a morning at Middlesbrough Runs! A massive thank you to everyone who laced up their trainers, braved the showers and came out in full force for the Ali Brownlee 5K & Middlesbrough 10K 👟

It was a particularly special morning as we were joined by Ali Brownlee’s wonderful family to celebrate the life and legacy of the much-loved broadcaster. We were thrilled to be able to play a segment of Ali’s unforgettable commentary ring out at the start line, bringing some of his most memorable sporting moments back to Middlesbrough🏅

We were delighted to welcome the amazing Scott Makin broadcasting live on BBC Tees at the start and finish line, alongside the brilliant Neil Grainger from Smoggie Queens, keen runner and Zoe’s Place ambassador 👑

In what has been a difficult week for the people of Middlesbrough, we took a moment to remember PC Tom Clough and PC Matthew Blades who tragically lost their lives in the line of duty last week. Before the races began, runners and spectators joined together for a minute’s silence in their memory 🖤

This wasn’t just a normal race day. It was thousands of runners in unison showing a whole lot of community spirit 🫶

That’s a wrap on Middlesbrough Runs 2026 — we’ll see you in 2027 🏁✨
