Congratulations to H Tickle, who has earned his Herne CC Baggy Blue Cap after recording five scores of 50 or more!

H struck two half-centuries last season and has followed them up with two more fifties and a superb century this year.

Unfortunately it wasn’t our day on Sunday as Saltwood CC claimed victory by 192 runs.

Having won the toss, Herne elected to field on what proved to be an excellent batting surface. Saltwood made the most of the conditions, posting an impressive 335-6 from their 40 overs. A few missed chances in the field proved costly, with dropped catches allowing the home side to build some significant partnerships.

In reply, Herne battled hard but were unable to keep pace with the required run rate, eventually being bowled out for 143.

Credit to Saltwood for an excellent all-round performance. We dust ourselves down, take the positives into next week and look forward to getting back out on the field.
