CRICKET 🏏 | Challengers Hereford CC – Champions in Their Debut Season.
The Challengers Hereford Cricket Club, newly registered under Hereford Cricket, have made history in their inaugural campaign by lifting the Worcester County League Division 9 title. Their debut season has been nothing short of remarkable, combining talent, determination, and team spirit to etch their name into the record books.
From the outset, Challengers Hereford CC signaled their intent. A squad built with highly skilled cricketers, they quickly established themselves as one of the strongest sides in the competition, first making headlines by topping their group. That success set up a mouthwatering Division 9 Final clash against a strong Worcester Amigos CC.
The Final Showdown – 13 September 2025
Challengers Hereford CC won the toss and chose to bowl first – a decision that proved decisive. The bowling attack showcased exceptional rhythm and discipline, with Dencil Das producing a magical spell of bowling to claim 6 wickets, while Clinton Jose backed him superbly with 3 wickets. Together, they dismantled the opposition, restricting Worcester Amigos CC to just 89 runs.
Chasing 89, the Challengers’ batters came out with intent, scoring briskly despite losing wickets at regular intervals. Holding their nerve under pressure, they reached the target in just 10.3 overs, finishing on 93/7 to seal a 3-wicket victory.
Champions in Their First Season
The win crowned Challengers Hereford CC as Division 9 champions in their very first year of competition – an extraordinary achievement that highlights the team’s hunger and potential.
Special recognition goes to Worcester Amigos CC for their spirited performance and excellent sportsmanship, which made the final both competitive and memorable.

The club’s home ground is at City Sports Club, Hereford, where the journey of this exciting team is only just beginning. Chairman Babu Thomas shared that the club is already planning to field another team next season, along with efforts to secure better facilities and training opportunities for players as they look to build on their dream debut.

Losing is always painful, but it’s also a reminder that there’s still room for improvement in key areas.
Congratulations to Canon Frome CC on a dominant and well-deserved win.
Challengers Hereford CC lost our first game of the season. After losing the toss, we were put in to bat. Our batters couldn’t find their rhythm, and despite plans for an aggressive start, Canon Frome CC’s bowlers delivered consistent, disciplined spells with excellent line and length, putting our batting under pressure.
Their chase was slow and steady—well-paced and well-planned. Canon Frome reached the target in the 24th over with control and composure.
It’s a learning moment for us—but we’re still top of the table, and we’ll bounce back stronger. Well done to Canon Frome, and we look forward to the next challenge!

Challengers Hereford CC delivered a dominant performance against Fownhope CC, securing a comprehensive victory.
After losing the toss and being asked to field first, Challengers Hereford CC put on an exceptional bowling display. Leading the attack was Aneesh Thomas, who produced his career-best figures:
7 overs, 3 maidens, 4 runs, and 6 wickets — a truly remarkable effort that placed him top of the Herefords Honours Board.
The disciplined and relentless bowling effort saw Fownhope CC dismissed for just 35 runs in 14.4 overs.
In response, the Challengers openers continued their aggressive approach, reaching 38 runs in just 4 overs for the loss of one wicket, sealing the win in style.
