Here you can see us smoothing out the top of an axe, working the hot steel with a file to refine the shape and get those final details just right. And when you’re working steel like this, you’re bound to create a serious shower of sparks! ✨🔥

We’re using our butterfly press to fold the jackets for our pocket knives! ⚒️🔪

Not everything we make in the forge needs to be red hot. While the heat certainly helps when it comes to shaping and working the steel, there are plenty of techniques where a little bit of cold work and the right tools can make all the difference.

The butterfly press gives us the control and pressure we need to create those precise folds and shapes — turning a simple piece of metal into part of something much more useful.

It’s a great reminder that blacksmithing isn’t just about swinging a hammer at glowing steel! There’s a whole lot more skill, technique and machinery involved.
