We are phenomenally proud of who completed the 'Tideway Grand Slam' this weekend, wining the Vesta Scullers Head in 21:14.24.
This remarkable milestone recognises wins across every major Tideway head race and match race.

Henley’s most magical night is nearly here ✨

Join us on Saturday 19 September as the Illuminated Boat Parade lights up the river - judged by icons Mary Berry, Jerry Hall and Edd China, with Camilla Hadland‑Horrocks hosting.

Expect a flotilla of glowing boats from 7.30pm, themed from Bond to Mamma Mia to Popeye.

Inside the Clubhouse, it's for Members + guests only: the best views in Henley, chilli bowls from 6–9pm, and hot chocolate piled high with whipped cream and marshmallows.

Outside: The Shack, Mediterranean food vans, pies, and The Deck Bar serving hot + cold drinks.

See you for a spectacular night on the river. 🌙💡

It is with great sadness that we share the news that Honorary Life Member Ivor Lloyd passed away on 26 August, following a short illness.

Ivor’s connection to Leander spanned more than three decades - as an athlete, Captain, Director of Rowing and Chairman - and his leadership helped shape the most successful era in our Club’s history. His influence on British rowing reached far beyond Leander, touching river and coastal communities alike.

Please go to the 'Remembering our Members' page on the Leander website to read a full tribute, written by those who knew him best.

Our flag will fly at half‑mast until his funeral, in honour of a man whose vision, generosity and lifelong commitment to the sport inspired generations.

We send our deepest condolences to Ivor’s family and all who knew him.

Leander at the 2026 World Rowing Championships 🚣‍♀️🔥
A huge week in Amsterdam for Leander athletes representing Great Britain — delivering three silvers, two bronzes, and record‑breaking speed across the board.

🥈 Men’s Eight
Silver in a photo finish — both GB and the Netherlands under the previous World Best Time.

🥈 Women’s Eight (Historic!)
GB’s first ever Women’s Eight silver, with Leander athletes powering the fastest British time ever.

🥈 Women’s Quad
Back‑to‑back Worlds silvers for GB, led by Leander’s Lola Anderson and Hannah Scott.

🥉 Men’s Four & 🥉 Men’s Quad
Two hard‑fought bronzes in fiercely contested finals.

Plus strong performances from the Women’s Four (5th) and Women’s Double (B‑Final win).

Author Alex Robertson is currently compiling a reference guide to Leander HRR badges and has uncovered a mystery. During the 1980s, Leander issued a run of undated plastic badges, and the exact years they were used have become difficult to confirm.

Only two badges from that era are dated, 1983 and 1984. Working backwards from the first metal badge in 1990 and the nine plastic variations identified so far, Alex’s best estimate is that the first plastic badge appeared in 1981.

If you remember which badge belongs to which year, or if you have an example that does not match the known designs, Alex would be delighted to hear from you at [email protected].

A lovely reminder that even the smallest pieces of Leander’s history hold a lot of heart.
