🥋 BARBARA’S STORY — IT’S NEVER TOO LATE TO COME BACK TO KARATE

After around 25 years away from training and 30 years since her last grading, Barbara Morgan decided it was time to step back into the dojo.

“I got back into training to get fitter, but I also knew Karate was something I’d always enjoyed. It gives you values and a good mentality that stay with you — Karate never really leaves you.”

When Barbara decided to return, she started looking for a local club and spotted an advert for JKS Clyde in the Helensburgh Advertiser, shortly after the club had opened.

The rest is history. 🥋

Barbara quickly rediscovered her love for Karate, met new people who became friends and, with the support and training of Callum Sensei, went on to achieve something she had never attempted the first time around…

Barbara’s journey is a brilliant reminder that it doesn’t matter how long you’ve been away. Whether you trained years ago or have never stepped inside a dojo before, there’s always an opportunity to start again.

Brilliant to see such a busy Core Karate class at Centre 81 tonight! 👏

Our students were putting in the work, developing their kihon, kata and kumite while building confidence, discipline and strong karate foundations. 💪🥋

There’s nothing better than seeing the dojo full, with everyone training hard and pushing themselves to improve.

A big shoutout to Chloe, Lev and Sophie for travelling through to the Honbu Dojo to take part in the JKS Scotland Squad training sessions! 👏🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Training outside our Clyde Dojos is an essential part of competitive development. It gives our students the opportunity to test themselves against different training partners, experience a strong competitive environment and continue raising their level in preparation for competition. 🥋💪
