U10 Knights

Tough afternoon!

Big loss. Very good opposition, but far from our finest performance. Made life difficult for ourselves giving the ball away too easily, which lead to goals.

The fight was still there in spells, but the energy and grit not at the usual level, and not confident enough on the ball. Playing this level of competition we needed both consistently - and usually have it - but not today, and were punished as a result.

Shout outs - George was outstanding in net again and without some of his saves it would have been more. Fin’s work rate was tremendous and he scored our only goal from pure pressing. Millar was MOTM with a real battling performance.

We can do better and some things to take away and improve on. Go again next week!

U12 Azzurri

It’s not often you can lose yet be delighted with the performance, but today was one of those days.

We played a strong team from the year above, and the message was simple - stay competitive, keep working hard off the ball and limit the damage.

Every single player contributed, working hard to make life for the opposition difficult. Despite the physical size difference, we were brave in the tackle showed no fear when defending.

Our never giving up forced some chances, and eventually Phillips lashed one home to ensure we left with a goal to our name.

We lost the game, but walked away with our heads held high and a lot of praise from the opposition coach!

Special mention to Maxwell in goal, and Millar at the back. On a day with lots of great performances, they stood out.

U11 Kings

Kings started well playing some nice football from the back and they took a deserved lead in the first 10 minutes with a great finish from Tomkinson.

The Kings shape was strong and they were making life very difficult for the opposition when they had the ball.

As the game progressed the opposition reverted to a more direct approach and this opened up the game and the Kings became sloppier in possession.

Mid way through the second period the opponents equalised with an excellent long range strike which left it all to play for in the last 10 minutes.

Davies in goal made a string of excellent saves before Denning seized on a loose ball in midfield beat his man and struck a superb cross / shot that was parried by the keeper and Tomkinson was on hand to convert the rebound.

Some excellent footballing moments today and the lads showed a real desire to see the game out.

Today’s captain Travis chose Davies as player of the match for decent distribution and a string of top saves.

U11 Phoenix

A hard-fought game for the Phoenix boys today against a tough opposition, who were a player short but certainly made us work hard for the result.

We started brightly and went up through a great finish from Sonny. Unfortunately, we then seemed to relax a little too much, expecting the floodgates to open. Instead of playing with our usual purpose, we tried to walk the ball into the net and lost some of our attacking intent.

Credit to our opponents who punished us with two well-taken goals after cutting through our defence far too easily.

At half time, we had a good chat with the boys and challenged them to be more positive and, most importantly, shoot more! That message certainly paid dividends in the second half. We started taking our chances and eventually moved into the lead.

However, full credit to the opposition — they never gave up and kept coming back at us. Once again, we made things difficult for ourselves defensively, allowing them to cut through us too easily at times.

We managed to put the game to bed late on, but there is plenty for us to work on. Defensively, we need to be stronger and more organised, while going forward we need to be more decisive and willing to take our chances rather than trying to find the perfect pass.

A well-deserved Player of the Match award for Thomas, who got stuck in, battled for everything and never stopped working for the team. Exactly the kind of attitude we want to see.

A good result, but plenty of lessons to take from it. We’ll keep working, keep learning and keep improving. 💪⚽

U13 Blues

With a full squad out this morning the boys set off to dominate the game from the off and early on great pressure from Ollie got Taha the ball and he lashed in a long range shot to put us ahead. The pressure on the oppositions defence led to an early corner, where Freddie produced a bullet header at the far post to score. More great goals from Ol & Freddie. And James & Zak scored from great corners!
Bailey also clipped a free kick in perfectly for Joey to power a header home.
As the opposition were allowed the extra player, they had a good spell at the start of the second half, with Finn making a good save down to his left pushing the ball out for a corner. Our boys continued to push forward and implement some of the good passing from defence to atrack which we have worked on in training. Bailey dribbled through to score before Harrison made another followed by one more. after a good passing move. Harrison then added another Bailey dribbled through again to score out and we came away with a victory.
The boys will have tougher games ahead but they got the job done in what will have been a good confidence booster.

🏆All the boys played well today but the man of the match award today went to Freddie, for his 2 goals, passing and offering to cover defence whilst Alexander was off the pitch.

U9 All Stars

Really proud of the lads today. After last week’s big win, the league moved us up to the Premier League to give us a tougher test, and the boys gave a really good account of themselves.
They worked their socks off, battled for every ball and kept going right to the end. Even when under pressure, they still tried to stay calm and play football.
Plenty for us to learn from as well, especially the opposition’s movement off the ball and how well they found space.

🏆 Man of the Match: Thomas — brilliant work rate from start to finish, competed for everything and showed great composure on the ball.

Special mention to Joel as well for a great goal and some really positive running at his man. He’ll captain the side next week.

U12 Blues

U12/U13 Stockport Metro KO Cup

A tough first game of the season today for blues against solid older opposition. We started the game well and tried to get into our usually quick passing game which was made difficult due to the very small pitch.

Although we restricted them to minimal dangerous chances a couple of errors led to chances and they were clinical when they arrived. On the flip side we continued to try and create openings which led to a wonderful finish but ruled offside as well as hitting the woodwork on two occasions so on another day could have seen us take the game all the way.

Plenty of positives to take and things to learn from challenging ourselves against older opposition. MOM went to new signing Gibson who slotted in seamlessly, always made the right decisions on the ball and ran his heart out all game 🏆

U11 Knights

Another tough game for the knights this morning against a very good team.

The pressure was on from the start with the opposition moving the ball around a lot quicker and creating chances, we defended well at the start but that pressure meant we sat too deep and when we won the ball back we couldn’t get out, which resulted in us kicking the ball up the pitch for the opposition to start the attack again.

We had glimpses of good play in the first half, with one moment of pressure put on their defence led to a knights goal.

At half time a few things were said, mainly around the work rate and working as a team because a few players went missing today and I think we realised quite quickly you can’t go missing in this league.

Our keeper had a great game and pulled off some great saves to keep the score down, but we didn’t create enough going forward and that pressure kept coming back to us.

We did score again, 3 good passes and a through ball got us the goal, another reminder of how easy it can be if they pass the ball and find the right pass at the right time.

The results don’t matter at these early stages but the energy and work rate needs to match that of the opppsioton otherwise it’ll be a tough game every week.

U9 Knights

A really good performance from all the boys today.
In a game where we grew into it more and more as it went on.
We showed some lovely passing, showed great dribbling skills and battled for every loose ball.
What let us down today was our finishing if we create that many chances we need to score a few more of them.
Isaac making some really good saves in goal and sweeping up breakaways.
Eddy being the rock at the back, calm on the ball and passed out from the back.
Ralph started at the back and was tenacious and strong then moved into midfield and showed great technical skills.
Ellis was all over the pitch. Playing every outfield position and working so hard. Showing great skills and determination.
Finley again played every outfield position, showed some brilliant vision, skill and real strength and determination.
Elliot chased everything upfront and battled so hard for every ball. Then had a run out in midfield and again showed great strength and determination.
MOTM was a team one today as they all worked their socks off.

U10 Lazio U10
KO Cup: Round 2

An 8.15am kick-off clearly didn’t bother RR Lazio U10 Saturday morning. They were wide awake from the first whistle and absolutely RAMPANT, storming into a significant half-time lead before managing the win.

Archie enjoyed a very nice, very quiet first half in goal. Morgan had a slightly busier second-half stint between the sticks after doing his damage up front with a superb first-half hat-trick 🎩 🪄.

Ethan and Matthew had a superb game providing the solid back line, letting virtually nothing past them and serving up incisive runs and passes to play in their midfielders.

Lazio debutant Cormac folded into the team like he’d been playing with the lads forever. Two goals, including a BANGING free kick, and FOUR assists on his debut. Some start!

Reuben, Oscar and Ollie got amongst the goals too, with the whole team getting stuck in, moving the ball brilliantly and playing with real confidence.

Matthew took a thoroughly deserved MOTM 🌟 after another immense performance.

Bring on the quarter finals 👊🏼
