We are devastated to share that our club was broken into around 22:45pm last night after what was an amazing Captainβs Charity Day, with thieves stealing all of our trophies.
These trophies are far more than pieces of silverware. They represent almost 100 years of history, achievements, friendships and treasured memories of generations of members. To see that history taken from our club is absolutely heartbreaking.
We would like to thank Police Scotland for their swift response and for their efforts to investigate the incident and, hopefully, recover our trophies. We sincerely hope that these irreplaceable pieces of our clubβs history can be returned.
We would also like to highlight this incident to other sporting clubs across the Borders. Please be aware of the potential threat and consider taking whatever additional security measures you can to protect your own clubs and their history.
If anyone has any information which may assist Police Scotland, please get in touch with them.
These trophies belong to our club, our members and our community. They are irreplaceable, and we desperately hope to see them come home!

Championship Finals Day Brings Superb Golf to Minto
Minto Golf Club hosted its annual Championship Finals Day on Saturday 8th August, with golfers, spectators and guests enjoying a fantastic day of competitive golf and a great atmosphere around the clubhouse.
The golf course was in outstanding condition thanks to the hard work of Head Greenkeeper Paul Cranston and the greens staff. Despite the course having experienced a particularly dry spell and challenging conditions in recent weeks, the team presented the course in excellent shape. With some pin positions providing a stern test even for the best golfers, spectators were treated to some superb golf across all classes.
Thankfully, the weather decided to behave itself for Finals Day, with dry conditions throughout the day. However, changing temperatures and gusting winds added another challenge for the finalists and ensured there was plenty of drama across the various matches.
The headline event of the day was the Championship Final, where Craig Smith defeated Ewan Redpath 3&2 in an absorbing contest.
Craig made a flying start to the match and was an impressive 7 up after the opening 18 holes. Ewan's ball striking during the first 18 holes was exceptional, but his putter was a little on the cold side. However, Ewan showed tremendous determination and produced a fantastic fightback during the second 18 holes, managing to bring the match all square after 31 holes.
With the momentum firmly shifting, Craig regained the initiative on the 14th hole, winning the hole to move back ahead. He then followed this up with victories on the 15th and 16th holes to finally secure the match 3&2 and claim his second Championship title.
Craig previously won the Championship in 2017 during his first stint at Minto Golf Club, making this latest victory a particularly special achievement after returning to the club.
Describing his victory, Craig commented: "I've added another! Absolutely buzzing after what was a complete rollercoaster of a game and emotions. After six years away from golf during that stretch, it feels incredible to get back into the winner's circle!"
It was a superb display of match play from both finalists, with Ewan's fightback providing one of the highlights of the day's golf, while Craig showed great composure to regain control and finish the match strongly.

The competition was won by Brian Howden, who recorded an excellent nett 69. Ricky Tait finished runner-up with a nett 71, while Angus Towers completed the podium places with a nett 72.
As winner of the Best of the Rest, Brian also secured his Golden Ticket to the Fox & Hounds 36-Hole Final on Saturday 12th September, giving him another exciting competition to look forward to later in the season.
Minto Golf Club would like to thank all the spectators, members, family and friends who came along to support the finalists throughout the day. Their encouragement and support helped create a fantastic atmosphere around the course.
The club would also like to thank everyone involved in preparing and running Finals Day, with particular thanks to Head Greenkeeper Paul Cranston and the greens staff for presenting the course in such excellent condition, along with Scott Nichol for his usual high standard of catering and Mollie Crozier on the bar for keeping everyone watered throughout the day.
Finally, thanks go to all the committee members, volunteers and referees who helped ensure the day ran smoothly.
The day concluded with an enjoyable prize giving in a full clubhouse, providing a fitting end to what was a fantastic day of golf and a memorable Championship Finals Day for Minto Golf Club
