Wendy’s Cardiff Half for SAW Parkinson’s Strength 💙

On 4 October, Wendy Roach will be taking on the Cardiff Half Marathon to raise funds for our SAW Parkinson’s Strength community.

Wendy’s husband Michael attends the sessions, which she describes as a “game changer”, helping improve his balance, mobility and giving him a real sense of purpose.

Wendy only started running 12 months ago with 5k parkruns and is now training hard for her first half marathon!

Every donation will help us continue providing our Parkinson’s Strength sessions here in Pembrokeshire.

If you’re able to support Wendy, we’d really appreciate it - and please give this post a share. 💙

SAW at the World Powerlifting Championships 🌍

On Monday 24th August at 7am, Conor Cremona will represent Great Britain in the U120kg Sub-Junior class at the World Powerlifting Championships in South Africa 🇿🇦

At just 17 years old, Conor will take to the world stage looking to battle for a podium finish across all three disciplines — squat, bench press and deadlift.

Conor won the British Championships in the U120kg class back in May 🥇, putting together an impressive:

🏋🏼‍♂️ 250kg Squat
🏋🏼‍♂️ 167.5kg Bench Press
🏋🏼‍♂️ 290kg Deadlift
🔥 707.5kg Total

We’re confident Conor will be at his best in South Africa and look to build on those numbers, with an opportunity to challenge for British Records firmly in his sights🇬🇧

We’re all behind you here at SAW, Conor. This is as big as it gets. Go out there and show the world what you can do! 💪

SAW at the Commonwealth Games 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

A very proud Games for Strength Academy Wales, with three members of the SAW community representing Wales in Glasgow.

Lotty Whalley made an outstanding Commonwealth Games debut, producing a PB Clean & Jerk and a performance to be very proud of.

Stephen Donovan represented Wales as an International Technical Official at his third Commonwealth Games, following Gold Coast 2018 and Birmingham 2022.

Simon Roach attended in his leadership role with WW at his seventh Commonwealth Games, having first represented Wales as Head Coach at Kuala Lumpur 1998. During the Games, Simon was also elected to the Commonwealth Weightlifting Federation Executive Board for 2026–2030.

It was also fantastic to see Lotty’s family and members of the SAW community in Glasgow supporting Lotty and the Welsh team.

Three very different roles, but all representing Wales and the SAW community on the Commonwealth stage.

A proud Games for everyone at SAW. ❤️

Congratulations Helen! 🇬🇧

Congratulations to Helen Carrington and the GB Masters M2 Women’s Team on winning Team Gold at the European Bench Press Championships in Lithuania 🇱🇹 🥇

Putting on the GB vest is always a huge honour, and we’re delighted to see Helen return home with a European team gold medal.

Helen is also one of our valued SAW volunteers, supporting our members and community programmes throughout the year, and we’re incredibly proud of everything she continues to achieve both on and off the platform.

Congratulations Helen, from all of us at SAW! 👏
