โ ๏ธ Weather warning โ ๏ธ
With the extreme heat coming this week can I remind everyone to arrive no earlier than 10 minutes before their lesson.
As you know pool side gets extremely hot so minimising your time pool side will help keep everyone cool.
Please also bring water (no squash) to drink as needed.
Parents whose children enter the water without them please feel free to sit outside this week. Weโre very lucky we have a glass front building so you can still watch from afar in the shade.
Stay safe everyone ๐งก ๐โโ๏ธ

๐ What Does โChild-Ledโ Mean in Swimming Lessons? ๐
Swimkidz is proud to be a swim school that believes in child led learningโฆ BUT, what does this mean?
Child-led doesnโt mean children do whatever they want in the lesson. Instead, it means recognising that every child develops at their own pace and supporting them on that journey with patience, guidance and encouragement.
At Swimkidz, we have clear lesson objectives and skills we work towards, but we understand that children reach those milestones at different times. Some may be ready to try a new skill straight away, while others need a little more time, confidence or practice first.
Being child-led means:
๐ Respecting each childโs individual development
๐ Building confidence through positive experiences
๐ Following their cues and emotional readiness
๐ Providing support and gentle encouragement
๐ Celebrating progress, no matter how big or small
Our role as teachers is to guide, nurture and challenge children appropriately, helping them develop skills safely and confidently without pressure.
Because the strongest swimmers arenโt rushed โ theyโre supported to grow, learn and succeed in their own time. ๐ฆโจ

๐๐ Learn to Swim Week โ Day 7: Open Water Swimming ๐๐
Swimming outdoors can be an amazing experience but open water is very different from the swimming pool ๐โโ๏ธ๐
From changing weather conditions to currents, cold water, and visibility, itโs so important to be prepared before entering the water.
Remember to:
๐๏ธ Know your beach and water safety flags
๐ฆ๏ธ Check weather and water conditions
๐ Tell someone where youโre going and when youโll be back
๐ฆบ Wear bright colours and take something buoyant with you
๐ In an emergency, call 999 never put yourself at risk by entering the water
At Swimkidz, we believe water safety education is just as important as learning to swim. Confidence in the water starts with understanding how to stay safe in different environments ๐

๐๐ Learn to Swim Week โ Day 6: First Aid Myth Busting ๐๐
Thereโs a lot of first aid advice out thereโฆ but not all of it is correct ๐
From nosebleeds to burns, water incidents to suspected spinal injuries, knowing the right thing to do in an emergency can make a huge difference. Thatโs why learning basic first aid and water safety knowledge is so important for parents, carers, and swimmers alike.
Today weโre busting some common myths and sharing safer, up-to-date advice to help keep everyone safer in and out the water ๐ฉน๐ซง
Because water confidence isnโt just about swimming, itโs also about knowing how to respond in an emergency ๐
