One trip around the sun ☀️ Turning 34 🎂

I adore doing a yearly reflection this time of year. I actually think I prefer setting my goals in line with my birthday and the September change in season more than in the New Year. So I think I’m going to do that from now on. It feels more grounding to reflect on a year as an age year rather than a calendar one. But that’s just my opinion.

Selecting only 20 images is impossible… IMPOSSIBLE 𝕄 𝔸 ℝ 𝕀 𝔼 🥥🌴 🤣🤣 (thank you).

I tried to select one image per month, but with a job and life like mine it’s a bit of a mission - HOW LUCKY AM I! 🥹💙

It’s been a MAGNIFICENT year. How did I make this my life?

Part 4: race week prep…

All things jet lag, course prep and making sure I was as mentally ready as possible for

Photos from Raffitness - Look, Think and Feel Photoshoot Ready's post 04/09/2026

It looks like it was ALL smiles at TCS Sydney Marathon presented by ASICS with Sports Tours International but the cameras were just very well timed and placed 🤭🙋🏽‍♀️

The goal - start easy. I did. The first 10km passed and I swear, I didn’t event feel like I was running. It was SO CHILL. I got to Half Way and legit thought ‘wow, I never knew a half could feel so easy’ 🤯

I knew 2 things in my core:
1. I would struggle in that 28-35km window.
2. I hadn’t ran above 32km in 2 years.

Mentally, all I was focusing on was getting to 28km and then doubling down on each km marker there after with a series of mind games and challenges for myself between each one.

Safe to say it worked. Before I knew it I was at 37km. With one of the hardest hills coming I had the head of the pacers voice in my head the whole time ‘the last 2km with run you home, just get to 40km and it’s easy’.

HE WAS NOT LYING.

I doubled down convincing myself the race ended at 40km. I had seen the 41km market on the way out and seen the downhill gradient. This kept me going strong. 💪🏼

I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better prep, a better race.

I worked SO hard for this, it paid off. 🇦🇺💙

Saying bye never gets easier. Bare with me here as I try get my words out…

Emma Kirk-Odunubi 🙋🏽‍♀️ The Voice of Running and my relationship has never been ‘normal’ by any standard.

I often hear people say their partner is their best friend. Emma is this to me and so much more. She is quite literally the other half of me and every time we separate it hurts. So deeply.

But, time and time again I choose to leave. I love my job, the people, the new cultures, the new spaces. And emma never stops me. I can see the struggle on her face every time, but she holds me tight, tells me she’s proud and says it’s ok to leave.

My number one driver in life has always been to help more people succeed. I thrive in high pressure, fast pacing environments. I am obsessed with how we can give people a better experience. In order to do that it means I have to travel, I have to get in the room and I have to show up relentlessly for other people.

My toxic trait if you like is often I do this at the expense of my own health and wellbeing, which I’m working on with my therapist 🙏🏽

So you see, I have to keep leaving, as in my core this is who I am. But it doesn’t make it hurt any less. As we plan our wedding, as we talk about the future. As we make plans with family and friends around my craziness. It’s always out of balance and she is always sacrificing. This is something I will never take for granted.

Post marathon, I feel like that race changed me. That prep has changed me. I feel so deeply connected to my queen even more, and my belief and confidence in myself has grown. I needed that trip - we needed that race.

So as I stand here on the crowded training, heading into another day of 9-10 hours of travel I am so deep in my feels.

Excited for what’s to come.
Proud of the space I’m in.
Sad saying goodbye again.
Trusting that it will all work out.
Believing I have what it takes to achieve my goals.
Blessed I have a partner who gets it and allows me the full space to be me.

Part 2: Nutrition. As a PMOS/PCOS girlie (hi, where you at).. I actually find carb loading impossible. My body isn’t not a huge fan of heavy carbs so I have to get a little creative when prepping for races to work with my body and maximise my potential.

Let me take you through how I do it.

Follow for parts 3-5 🙋🏽‍♀️

I DID A THING. A really freaking HUGE thing.

From a 6:42km pace in Chicago to a 6:08 pace today. A solid 20min plus PB. It wouldn’t have been possible without Coach Emma Kirk-Odunubi 🙋🏽‍♀️ The Voice of Running She worked to get me here. It’s been a RIDE. 🤣🙋🏽‍♀️ love you! 🥰

Full debrief to come. But for now, IM SO PROUD OF ME.

Official Time: 4:23:23.

I can’t thank Sports Tours International enough for this spot. It’s been a dream. One more day in Aus then it’s back to reality. So imma just sit and soak this up 🤭🎉

Another Day chasing the sun. Day 3: Sydney 🥹 you 💯 need to save the restaurant from the last few slides. 🤤 also our winter sunset spot. I’d say I’m nailing this trip ha… LET’s LOOK ➡️

Started the day with a 12km run in Centinnial Park. Full run again on Strava Ultimately it’s around 3.5km a loop… both directions tried and tested. Gives a Battersea/Central Park Vibe 😍

Full fit LSKD RUNNING

Then we went to the spa, we got a 1 hour session for around £45 which was punchy considering it’s hot and cold therapy. But well worth it as it was quiet and much needed for the soul.

The Salt Wall normal Sauna… Twas hot 🥵 InterContinental Sydney Coogee Beach

Then outdoors a combination of cold plunge and hot tubs. Can you guess what one emma is NOT going in 🤣🤣

They also had an infrared sauna and steam room. Both were great. I’m just much more of a normal sauna preference for my hot and cold.

I did 3 cycles of 10min heat, 1 min cold tub then a few minutes in the bath to chill.

Day was not done…. We then headed to Watson Bay and Camp Cove to grab a coffee and catch the sun set. It was immaculate vibes. SAVE THIS location and head for a coffee and beach visit. You won’t be disappointed.

How cute is she… SHE SNEEZED AND SMASHED HER CHIN, thankfully it’s not bruised but she has an ouchie 🤣🤣🤣

👰🏾‍♀️👰🏽‍♀️

The view 🌅

Last stop of the day - DINNER. One you must save.

We went to LOUIE 👨🏻‍🍳

I would recommend planning ahead and booking. They were fully booked. But managed to squeeze us in to the bar - thanks team 🙏🏽

I got 2 of the small plates. Filo pastry and the beef tartare. Then the bucatini amatriciana. Emma got the Wagu Pappardelle and the Cabbage Side.

When I tell you, every bite was divine. It was SOOOO GOOD.

Ugh, look at the cabbage. You must go 🤍

SYDNEY, day 2. Yesterday is up there with one of the best days ever. From views to food, you have to check it out —>

Sunrise on the Rainbow Steps at Coogee Beach to start the day. We go there for 5:45am when no one was around and stayed until@the sun was full up around an hour later. It was magical.

First coffee of the day was from Coffeeroom - Coogee Beach ! I’ve yet to have a bad coffee in Aus, but this place was a life saver at 5:30am and I will be going again today! (In 20mins ha!)

Breakfast from our hotel. We decided to include breakfast because we eat a lot, the coffee is good and the vibes are divine. The cost works out about £20 per day so really worth it for us!

Running fit. We made. Bold move and decided to run the famous costal walk from Coogee —> Bondi 🤘🏼🤣 CHOICES!

Kit LSKD as always. Plus my new SLs 💜🩷

Day 2 mirror pose! 🤣 em’s mannerisms kill me. PERIOD.

Bondi Beach Baby. WE MADE IT. The run was up and down so many hills and stairs, but I actually felt super strong on them. Strava has the full details if you wanna look check it there.

We met our friend Az J Barcham for coffee number 3 of the day in Bondi. I wish I was joking when I said I had 4 flat whites yesterday and still fell asleep at 8am. 🤣 JET LAG 🤘🏼

IYKYK

👰🏽‍♀️👰🏾‍♀️

That was only the morning… for lunch we headed to Rosebury. Fit feeling on point.

Emma slipped and fell AGAIN Pace Athletic 👀🫠

Introduced her to FISHBOWL for lunch. A firm healthy favourite out here! Think Atis or Sweet Greens

She kills me 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

🥹💜🤎

Dinner was delivery Again as we simply could not stay awake, I found Mary’s rated on time out and it was on Uber Eats. Their fried chicken is like HEAVEN. And I live in East Croydon. So TRUST ME. 🤤
