Something a bit different to our usual updates! On Friday my friend arrived at work with an orphan baby squirrel. His mother had abandoned him and he was so distressed he came down the tree and jumped on her and snuggled into her. Mum still hadn’t come back for him 24 hours later and he was starting to look weak. He is only about 7/8 weeks old so still needed his mum for milk and warmth. We managed to get him to take a bottle on Friday but he was not doing great. Friday night I was up with him most of the night trying to keep him warm and fed as turns out if baby squirrels aren’t warm enough they can’t digest food and apparently 23c room temp is not enough warmth. I didn’t have a hot water bottle so kept him on my chest all night wrapped in both my hands and after a few hours he started to perk up and finally had a proper feed! By yesterday he was taking a bottle every 4 hours and was getting brighter and more alert. Today he is a live wire !! As he is doing so well now I have ordered him a proper “house” where he can climb and play and has more room than his current “cat carrier home”. Not sure if he is male or female, but for now he is called “Cyril”. Updates to follow of how he progresses …..

😂😂
Christmas time, mucking out and wine… 🎄🐴🍷
(an equestrian rewrite we all deserve)
Christmas time…
Mucking out and wine,
Horse's neighing
Like it's feeding time..
With logs on the fires,
And hay in your bra,
Time to rejoice
In the warmth of your car
Oh Christmas time…
Mist, mud and grime,
Horses waiting…
Like it’s feeding time.
There’s tinsel being eaten
By Susan's chestnut mare
Time to rejoice
Like we really don't care
There are cold hands,
And steaming breath,
You question life choices…
But not that much yet.
The wheelbarrow squeaks,
Your back says “no”,
But you still whisper
“Just one more to go…”
Repeat chorus like a bad ass
So pour the wine,
When the yard is done,
Boots by the door,
Day finally won.
Christmas joy
Looks different round here
It smells like hay,
And it's a very long day..
Christmas time…
Mucking out and wine.......
(Or nosseco if you're not drinking.......cos I know lots my age are finding a new found life not drinking!)
Sorry was singing this all the way home and had to write it down 😂😂😂😂
