- To Support NSPKU, the UK’s national charity for people living with Phenylketonuria (PKU) — a rare, lifelong genetic condition.
Bailey's story:
This brave boy Bailey has PKU, PKU means their bodies cannot break down phenylalanine, an amino acid found in protein. If it builds up, it can cause serious and irreversible brain damage. There’s no cure — only a strict, lifelong diet.
For them, every bite of food must be measured, calculated, and carefully planned. Everyday foods most of us take for granted can be dangerous. Even small mistakes can have serious consequences.
For their parents, life with PKU is constant planning, vigilance, and advocacy. Simple things like eating out, birthday parties, or holidays can become stressful and complex.
But through it all, NSPKU and the PKU community have been a lifeline — offering support, guidance, and hope.
That’s why were here to help raise awareness, fund support for families, and contribute to research that could one day change lives. ❤️
