After 20 years of experience in Martial Arts Barry and Wendy Houghton set up their own club with a view of passing on their wealth of experience and love of martial arts to students both young and old. Barry and Wendy are 3rd Dan Black Belts in Sankukai Karate, Black Belt in Muay Thai Boxing and Brown grade in JKD. Barry also has a wealth of MMA experience and has taken part in MMA Cage Fighting competitions. Barry and Wendy have trained with Sensei Ryozo Tsukada (8th Dan) and World Champion Thai Boxer Liam Mcgrandles. BWH Martial Arts Academy is a family friendly club where everyone is welcome, from beginners to more experienced Martial Artists.

🥋 Wednesday Karate Class – Important Update

Unfortunately, as from the 21st October the Wednesday Karate class is cancelled until further notice due to personal circumstances and work commitments.

We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and really appreciate everyone’s understanding and continued support. ❤️

Last Wednesday class will be 21st October.

Friday classes remain unchanged and students are welcome to train on this day as an alternative to Wednesday.

Huge congratulations to Jon on achieving his Brown Belt (3rd Kyu) 🥋👏

He thought he was grading for purple… but we pushed him for brown — what an amazing achievement!

Jon has shown fantastic dedication to his karate, training consistently alongside his son Luke and always giving 100%. He works incredibly hard, pays attention to the smallest details, and is always striving to get things right.

One of the most rewarding things to see has been Jon’s growth in confidence. From not wanting to demonstrate in front of the class, to now stepping up without hesitation — it’s become second nature!

A well-deserved milestone and a brilliant example of what hard work and perseverance can achieve. Keep it up, Jon 💪🔥

Massive congratulations to Luke on achieving his 1st Dan Black Belt 🥋👏

Once known as “Little Luke” — not so little anymore! His journey started back in 2018, and since then he’s shown incredible dedication, determination, and resilience.

Through every belt, every challenge, and every tough session, Luke never gave up and always pushed himself to improve.

This achievement is a true reflection of his hard work and commitment — we couldn’t be prouder.

Even better, from September Luke will be stepping into a new role as an Assistant Coach, helping guide and inspire our younger students as they begin their own journeys.

Well done, Luke — a fantastic role model and a well-deserved Black Belt 💪🔥

Huge congratulations to Emile Alexander Morant on achieving his Black Belt 2nd Dan! 🥋👏

Emile has shown incredible dedication over the years, always giving 150% in every session. A true perfectionist, he is constantly striving to improve and never stops wanting to learn. His commitment and training ethic are second to none.

Not only is he a highly skilled martial artist, but he is also a pleasure to teach — always humble, respectful, and a great example to others in the club.
