As Dillon is so popular…here is Winnie and him sharing a lunch time slop 🥰

Here is our yard mascot and firm favourite retiree, little Dillon 🐴🤎

He’s now nearer to the 4th decade of his life than the 3rd! 🥹 And while he’s still very happy munching away, eating enough long forage such as hay and haylage is becoming a little harder for him these days.

With fresh grass being rather hard to come by this summer (Dillon has even been spotted helping himself to the lawn 🙈), he absolutely loves his SPILLERS Senior Super Mash to help him maintain his condition and keep those calories going in.

And please excuse the burrs in his tail and forelock… apparently grazing the field isn’t quite enough when there are blackberries to forage for in the hedgerows! 😂

A little (belated!) retirement post for our lovely Chris 🥰🐴

Here we are presenting Chris with a couple of very appropriate retirement gifts; a new headcollar for her beloved Diesel & Spirit, and of course, some gin… her favourite tipple! 🍸😂

We (and definitely the horses!) miss having Chris looking after them every day, although thankfully she hasn’t escaped us completely, we still see her around the yard all the time!

We really can’t thank Chris enough for the years of incredible care, dedication and love she has given to every horse here. She’s been such a huge part of the team and always will be. ❤️

We’re now very pleased to welcome Charlotte, who has joined us as our new freelance help. We’ll properly introduce her over the coming weeks! 🐴🌿

✨ A few very rare spaces for geldings in our gelding herds ✨

We’re delighted to have a small number of spaces becoming available to join our established herds at Moor Farm & one space at Glebe. 🐴🤎

At Moor Farm, our herd enjoys 24/7 turnout with access to a huge open Dutch barn around the clock, complete with a deep straw bed and free access whenever they choose.

🌿 Beautiful, secluded and peaceful grazing
🐴 Carefully managed, settled herd dynamics
🏡 24/7 access to the barn at Moor Farm
🌾 Ad-lib forage throughout the winter
👀 Daily checks and individual attention
💚 Established, mature old grass (not suitable for laminitics)
✨ And, most importantly, horses who are genuinely treated as individuals

We really, really pride ourselves on treating every horse as if they were our own. Their happiness, comfort and quality of life are at the heart of everything we do.

These spaces don’t come up often, so if you’re looking for a calm, natural and exceptionally well-cared-for home for your gelding, please get in touch.

Freelance Yard Team Member 🐴

After 8 wonderful years with us, our lovely Chris is retiring. She’ll be hugely missed by the horses (she always has “sweets” in her pockets!), our owners, and all of us for the incredible care she’s given over the years.

We’re looking for an experienced, reliable and caring freelance equine professional to provide regular morning cover (around three mornings per week, finishing by lunchtime and flexible on start time) as part of our friendly team at Glebe Farm Retirement Livery.

The role involves care of our retirement horses, including health checks, feeding, administering medication, rug changes, and occasional stable care for horses that need it. Our horses live out 24/7, so there is no routine mucking out.

✨ Regular, ongoing freelance work
✨ Additional work may be available during busier periods, by mutual agreement and with plenty of notice.

We’re looking for someone who:
• Already operates on a self-employed/freelance basis (or intends to do so)
• Holds their own public liability insurance
• Is responsible for their own tax and National Insurance
• Has excellent horse knowledge and attention to detail
• Is confident working independently and using their own initiative
• Can provide references

If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you!

Please send your CV and a little about yourself to [email protected].

💚 Nothing makes us happier than hearing how settled and content our retirees are.

Nox has embraced retirement exactly as we’d hoped – enjoying the best of both worlds. He greets his family with excitement from several fields away, loves his treats, a good groom and plenty of cuddles, before happily wandering back to his herd of friends.

Knowing that owners can leave with complete peace of mind, confident their horse is happy, safe and thriving, is what Equine Retirement Livery is all about.

Thank you for your lovely words Annmarie!

🌾 Harvest 2026 has officially begun!

Harvest is officially underway, and while it’s great to see the combines back in the fields, this year’s wheat crop certainly isn’t going to be one for the record books! After another incredibly dry season with very little rainfall, yields are well below what we’d hoped for.

Farming definitely keeps you on your toes! Every year brings a new challenge, and although it’s frustrating to see another difficult harvest (and a lack of meaningful support for British farmers), we’ll just keep doing what farmers do best—crack on. 💪

From the livery side; poor cereal crops mean less straw for bedding, and dry weather affects hay production too. All of that has an impact on the costs of caring for our lovely retired horses.

We’re incredibly lucky to do what we love, and we’re so grateful to everyone who supports both our farm and our retirement livery. Every kind word, recommendation and bit of support really does make a difference!

Now, here’s hoping the weather is kinder next year… and in the meantime, we’ll keep the kettle on and the combines rolling! 🚜🌾🐴💚
