🇱🇰🏏 GIHAN KORALAGE — 2026 SEASON 🏏🇱🇰

What a season it’s been for Gihan in Goole colours! 🔵

An outstanding all-round campaign, finishing with 1,129 runs at an average of 51.32, including 7 fifties and 2 hundreds, alongside 64 wickets with best figures of 7/11, as well as 16 catches. 👏🔥

Gihan has made a massive contribution both on and off the field throughout the season and has been a huge part of the club’s success in 2026.

A massive thank you to Gihan and Sächini for everything this season. It’s been a pleasure having you both as part of the Goole Town family. 💙

Have a safe journey home to Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 and enjoy some well-earned time back home.

📢 Academy XI Match Result 📢

Goole travelled to Driffield for the final game of the season in the Humber Sunday Division 1.

Goole lost the toss and were put into bat. The Academy struggled to build any momentum and were eventually bowled out for 64 in 21.1 overs. Zac Matthews top scored with an unbeaten 12*, while Ciaran Smith added 10.

🏏 Goole made Driffield work hard for the victory, putting the home side under pressure by taking five wickets during the chase. Kanishka Randenithenne led the way with an excellent 3/22 from 9 overs, while skipper Jack Everett picked up 2/19 from 6 overs.

Driffield eventually reached 68/5 in 18.3 overs, securing a five-wicket victory.

🔵 The result brings the Academy XI’s 2026 season to a close, finishing 7th in the league with 68 points and six wins.

📢 1st XI Match Result 📢

Goole hosted Selby at Westfield for the final game of the 2026 season.

Goole won the toss and elected to field, with Lucas Matthews striking early to pick up two wickets. Selby slowly rebuilt from there, eventually reaching 200/9 from their 50 overs.

🏏 All of the Goole bowlers contributed, with Matty Cooper, Gihan Koralage and Lucas Matthews taking two wickets apiece, while Ben Lamb and Harry Pierce each picked up one.

Goole made a flying start to the chase, with Ben Shelton (42) and Oscar Sugden (37) putting on 87 for the first wicket. Gihan Koralage continued his fantastic season with 43 from 33 balls, Ashton Nottingham added 34, and Declan Eastwood finished unbeaten on 18* as Goole reached 203/5 in 32.2 overs, securing a comfortable five-wicket victory with 17.4 overs to spare.

👏 A fantastic way to round off an excellent season for the 1st XI!

Goole finish 4th with 160 points and 15 wins, securing their place in the new Championship next season. 🔵🏏

📢 2nd XI Match Result 📢

Goole travelled to Wheldrake for the final game of the 2026 season, looking to finish an excellent campaign on a high.

Goole won the toss and elected to bat, posting 192 all out from 41.1 overs. Sam Copping led the way with 49, supported by Rob Jacobs with 34 and Neil Foster with 28.

🔥 Goole then produced a dominant display with the ball, bowling Wheldrake out for just 82 in 27.4 overs to secure a convincing 110-run victory.

Jakey Kennedy was the star of the show with an outstanding 5/17 from 8 overs, while Ben Dillon returned excellent figures of 3/9 from 6.4 overs and Jack Everett picked up 1/20 from 6 overs.

🏆 A fantastic season for the 2nd XI!

Goole finish 2nd in the league with 170 points and 15 league wins, securing promotion to Division 1 next season! 🔵🏏

A brilliant achievement from everyone involved and the perfect way to round off the 2026 season!
