After such a long spell of climbing on dry rock under blue skies, yesterday's venture out was a bit of an abrupt reminder that the year is moving on - first time wearing waterproofs for a while!

Summer rock climbing well underway now with some good days out in the Wye Valley and beyond. Looks like things are going to get busier now the weather is improving and people are getting out on some adventures.

Very 'wintry' conditions for last week's Scotland courses, with strong winds, heavy snow showers and an extensive snowpack. Thanks to all for making it an enjoyable experience despite the challenging conditions.

Good to find some decent ice in North Wales this week for some preparation before an upcoming trip to Scotland for Harry. It's been a while.

That's about it for my rock climbing courses this year - might get out now and again if the weather is kind, otherwise it's a bit of lull before the winter courses kick in. The early season snow always raises a bit of excitement and I'm looking forward to getting out in the 'white stuff'

Just back from Scotland and my last 'winter' course for this season - although we did get out on some excellent snow, the latest trip was more 'Alpine' with the blue skies and sunshine. The unusual conditions capped off an 'unusual' winter with even more ups and downs than normal. Saying that, I've been lucky to avoid the worst of the downs and even got some good conditions in North Wales - the best for a few years. Now for some summer rock climbing.

After some unexpectedly warm and pleasant days rock climbing recently the current cold snap has been a bit of a reminder that the winter season is upon us - with a few excited emails asking about snow and ice conditions; unfortunately good conditions take a while to develop and although fresh snow makes for pretty pictures, that doesn't always mean good conditions - but at least it is a start!
