⚽️ Tewkesbury Town Pumas vs Whittington Park Youth Blues ⚽️

League Game

A fantastic start to the league campaign with a well-deserved win. It was a great team performance, with some excellent individual displays across the pitch.

🏆 Archie was a constant attacking threat throughout the game and was rewarded with two goals and a well-deserved Coaches’ Player of the Match award.

🏆 Apelles also had an excellent game and earned himself the opposition POTM award. Apelles worked extremely hard throughout, showing his blistering pace and determination, and was rewarded with a goal.

At the back, new signing Oscar and captain Ollie were solid throughout and put in a very strong defensive performance. They were unlucky not to come away with a clean sheet after conceding right at the end of the game, which had already gone beyond the scheduled playing time.

Roman also had a strong game, scoring twice, although one of his goals was ruled out by the referee. Roman played in central midfield rather than his usual position on the wing and adapted really well, putting in a very good performance.

Another new addition to the team, Jaylan, continued to impress. Jaylan has been fantastic during pre-season and put in another excellent performance. He is still getting used to the group and is experiencing youth football for the first time, but he is learning quickly and showing great natural ability and technique.

Jaylan came close to getting on the scoresheet, creating opportunities and showing plenty of confidence in his individual play. I can see him having a fantastic season and making a big contribution to the team.

GK Michael also had a great game, making some important saves and helping to keep the opposition from adding to their score.

Overall, every player contributed and played their part. I would give all the boys at least a 7/10 for their performances. Most importantly, the team showed that they are continuing to grow and develop together.

It’s a great start to the season. Hopefully, we can keep up the hard work, continue improving and build on this performance in the games ahead.

⚽️U9 WPYFC Blues 🔵 v Southside Star Panthers ⚽️

We welcomed Southside Panthers to Plock court for the first game of the season.

Our team hit the ground running and had a successful half of football playing some great passes and working well together.

During the 3rd quarter we allowed the opposition back into the game, made things a bit interesting but after a team talk will killed the game off and was rewarded for some great play

Special mention to James for jumping in between the sticks and doing a solid job.

The whole team was fantastic today and a great start.

Was great to have George come back into the team and was on 🔥

Big shout out to parents for helping today much appreciated.

⚽️ WPYFC U9 ⚪️ v Southside Star Wildcats ⚽️

Such a brilliant effort from the kids this morning for their first league game of the season!

All the kids worked hard training before the game, they were engaged, energetic and excited and got really stuck in and focused. We conceded early but this didn’t dampen spirits and gave the kids a huge incentive which showed through their football as a team.

Communication between them all still needs some work but after a few prompts they soon got into the swing of it, listening well to eachother and some quality football was seen securing our first win.

The kids also took turns playing in goal due to not having a goal keeper and as a coach I couldn’t be prouder of how they embraced this and some quality saves were made which was so good to see!

Brilliant morning of football! Was a rough start with the boys not fully awake and I was hoping for a more competitive game but unfortunately that just wasn’t the case!
However with a good talking to and a few laps around the pitch for their poor performance they soon picked themselves up and showed just what we know they can do with some brilliant passing and gameplay with the standout today being their communication between one another and becoming more physical both on and off the ball so I couldn’t have asked for much more from them

Brilliant today from him! Came on in the first half of the first game and brought a bit of life into us and from that moment he was completely up for it through the morning making same goal saving tackles, a clearance off the line and getting his reward with the goals!

Massive well done to everyone today with the way they picked themselves up and didn’t let their heads drop! Hopefully going forward we can play like that from the get go and today each and every one of them showed what we are capable of!

I good start to the new season with some exceptionally good performances. Blues kicked off against Charlton Rovers where we took the lead in the first half with a very well taken goal by Zac. Charlton Rovers made three changes to start the second half which made all the difference to give Charlton Rovers the win.
Lakeside Whites were a very competitive side in the second game. The Blues gave there all to stay at there pace but overall to strong with Lakeside finishing the game on top.
Our best performance of the day came in our last game against Lakeside Blues. The team passed the ball better and attacked the opposition goal more than the previous two games. We were a little unlucky at times and the result could have gone either way but It was a single goal from Lakeside which was the difference between the two teams.

Ted's efforts to be first to the ball in the tackle and making himself available for passes was very good. He worked very hard and deserved this weeks award

🏆 Lakeside Coach POTW - Lenny

The Lakeside coach was very impressed with the way Lenny played in the final game. He held up the ball well to offer attacking positions and made his himself felt in the tackle, goal saving on many occasions. A brilliant performance.
