12 months ago, Lynn was starting from scratch.
Today, training is simply part of her week.
What we love most about Lynn’s journey isn’t the number on the scales.
Surprising to most, it’s the routine she’s created for herself.
Two training sessions every week. Time set aside to get stronger, fitter and healthier. Something that is now simply part of her week, rather than something she has to keep finding the motivation to do.
And that consistency has brought some incredible changes.
Lynn has lost close to 5 stone through a completely different approach to how she lives, eats and looks after herself.
But more importantly, she’s become stronger, fitter and so much more confident in what her body can do.
She now rows, bikes, squats, deadlifts, does pull-ups, carries heavy things, skips and jumps every week.
She enjoys training. She enjoys feeling capable. And she’s built a routine that is hers, and that she’s committed to for herself.
That’s what we think is so brilliant about her journey.
The weight loss is fantastic, but it’s the consistency, confidence and enjoyment of looking after herself that will make the biggest difference for years to come.
And if it helps her keep up with her six grandchildren along the way, even better!
Brilliant work, Lynn. ❤️

Bank Holiday mornings are better with good people.
We’ve just wrapped up another Bank Holiday workout at Glevum.
Heavy weights. A good bit of hard work. And lots of effort.
But just as importantly, plenty of laughs and time spent with good people.
Showing up on a Bank Holiday is a whole lot easier when you know you’re going to see people you enjoy being around.
We train to get stronger.
We train to get fitter.
We train to be our best version of ourselves.
We train because being active makes us feel better.
But the people around us are a pretty big part of why we keep showing up.
Good workout. Good people. Great way to spend a Bank Holiday. ❤️

You don’t need to get everything right.
You don’t need the perfect week, the perfect diet, or to never miss a session.
You just need to keep doing the things that move you forward.
Train when you can.
Eat well most of the time.
Get enough sleep.
Move your body.
Turn up again next week.
Consistency beats perfection. Every time.
It’s the small things you do regularly that make the biggest difference over time.

Chris hit a lifetime PB on his bench press this week.
Which is pretty cool in itself.
But what makes it worth celebrating is everything that’s gone into getting there.
Chris came to Glevum as a runner and footballer. Over the last 5+ years, he’s consistently put the work into getting stronger, gaining over 10kg of muscle along the way.
He’s now leaner, stronger and much more well-rounded, but I think the biggest change is how much he enjoys what his body can actually do.
He’s run the London Marathon, recently completed his first Ultra with a group from Glevum, and is still training each week to get stronger, but more importantly because he enjoys pushing himself...
That’s what I love about this.
The goal isn’t just to lift more weight.
It’s to build a body that lets you do more of the things you enjoy.
And that lifetime PB?
Just another marker along the way.
Well done Chris. 👏

“We all moan and groan as we walk into the gym, but definitely walk out on a high.”
We couldn’t have put it better ourselves. 😂
Deb is a great example of what we mean when we say Glevum is for everyone.
Carrying a longterm knee ni**le, some movements need adapting. But that’s never a problem. If something doesn’t work for you, we find something that does.
Because the goal isn’t to force everyone to do the same thing.
It’s to help you get stronger, fitter and more confident in a way that works for you.
And then there’s the bit that happens outside the workouts.
Walks. Bike rides. Canoeing. Coffee. New friendships. A community that makes you feel like you belong.
As Deb says, you just turn up, get on with it and feel great afterwards.
You don’t need to be fit before you start.
You don’t need to know what you’re doing.
And you definitely don’t need to worry about feeling intimidated.
Just turn up. We’ll take it from there.
Thanks for the lovely words, Deb. ❤️

This is Jess 😊
Jess and her husband both make staying fit a priority, partly because their work keeps them on their feet and out and about all year round, whatever the weather decides to throw at them.
For Jess, one of the things she loves about coming here is that she doesn’t have to think too much about the training. She turns up, we tell her what she’s doing, and she gets on with it.
She’s guided through the session, supported by the coaches, and has gradually got to know the people she trains alongside, many of whom she now calls friends.
And somewhere amongst all the squats, weights and sweaty sessions, there’s usually a smile or two as well. 😊
That’s what we love seeing. People getting fitter and stronger, but also genuinely enjoying being here.

🌟 Bright Spot – Stephanie
A huge shout-out to Stephanie, who has been absolutely smashing it over the last five weeks!
By consistently turning up to train in the gym and tracking her calories for the first time, Stephanie has built a much better understanding of her nutrition and created habits that are really working for her. She's already lost just over 5 stone!!
The biggest change, though, is how she's feeling.
✨ More energy.
✨ More confidence.
✨ Stronger than ever.
Before going on holiday recently, Stephanie wasn't sure she'd be fit enough to go kayaking—but she did it with no problem, a brilliant reminder of just how much more capable she has become! Check out her joyful smile in the photo!
Even better, after years of back pain that would flare up just from walking, she's now pain-free thanks to the strength she's built in the gym. She's running in workouts, lifting heavier weights and feeling stronger every week.
Stephanie has also found a routine that keeps her consistent: walking the dog before heading to the gym, aiming for 15,000 steps a day, and learning that one meal out doesn't undo all her hard work.
Stephanie, we're so proud of your consistency and commitment. Your progress is a fantastic example of what happens when you focus on building habits that last. Keep it up!

🌟 Bright Spot: Anita 🌟
This week's Bright Spot goes to the wonderful Anita! 💙
Almost five years ago, Anita first stepped through the doors of Glevum with her husband, Piers, looking to get healthier, fitter and stronger. Since then, they've both become such a valued part of our community, always welcoming new faces, encouraging others and sharing their own journey along the way. Not to mention the staggering changes they've both made in body composition!
Anita is one of those people who makes Glevum what it is. Full of positivity, kindness and energy, she's always there to lend a hand at community events and cheer everyone else on. I think anyone who knows her would agree – she's an absolute gem.
At 62, Anita is proof that fitness opens the door to so much more than just exercise. She's balancing a house move, training consistently, feeling fitter and stronger than ever, and still has the energy to take on some incredible challenges.
Next month she's joining the Glevum team to tackle Tough Mudder, inspired by watching gym members take it on last year. Then in September she'll be ticking off a lifelong dream by completing a charity skydive! It has been an absolute joy to witness the confidence and capacity Anita has developed after having trained consistently with us for so long - what a lady!
Thank you, Anita, for everything you bring to Glevum. Your enthusiasm, kindness and willingness to throw yourself into every challenge inspire us all!

🌟 MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: JANE GREVES 🌟
Back in 2016, Jane heard Jonny Muir talking about his book *The UK's County Tops* on the radio. Inspired by this, she bought the book and decided to climb all 85 Historic British County Tops across England, Scotland and Wales! How cool is that!?
Nearly 10 years later, despite COVID, illness, bereavement and the challenge of reaching some of Britain's most remote summits, Jane has completed an incredible 72 of the 85 county tops!! As she approaches her 60th birthday, her goal is to finish the final 13 during 2026. 💪⛰️
Highlights so far include:
🏔️ Carn Eige – a 17-mile day taking in two Munros and three Munro Tops
🏔️ Bidean nam Bian – completing a challenging return through the Hidden Valley in the dark
🏔️ Ben Vorlich – marking the late Queen's funeral with a quiet dram on the summit
Jane is also raising money for Mountain Rescue teams across Scotland, England and Wales, with a goal of raising £5,000–£10,000 to support their lifesaving work.
We think that's pretty awesome. ❤️ What an inspiration!
If you've trained alongside Jane you'll know she is not scared of hard work! We wanted to give her a well-deserved shout-out and wish her luck as she tackles the final 13 summits!!
Please join us in giving Jane lots of encouragement below, and if you'd like to support her fundraising challenge, we'll pop the link in the comments 🙋♀️

🌟 BRIGHT SPOT: Nicky Harper🌟
A huge shoutout to Nicky this week! 👏
Over the past few months, Nicky has quietly been putting in the work, not only in her gym workouts but behind the scenes with her nutrition and stress management.
She is absolutely nailing it 💪
Last week she:
🏃♀️ Ran 9km, this was the furthest she had EVER run!
🏋️♀️ Deadlifted 65kg for 2 reps
🔥 Started lifting heavier kettlebells in workouts
😊 Is feeling leaner and stronger, dropped over 3kgs!
❤️ Even had her husband comment, "I can tell you're getting stronger!"
What we admire most about Nicky is despite every thing else that is going on she simply keeps showing up.
And truly that is where the magic happens. Doing the things, over and over, not perfectly but consistently.
Most people think results come from finding the perfect plan. In reality, they come from building habits that still work when life isn't perfect.
Nicky is building a lifestyle she can actually sustain.
"It's not like anything thing I've ever done before. I am not just working to get to a quick goal and then falling off. I am not getting injuries like before. It just feels easy to me now."
If you've been thinking:
👉 "I know what to do, I just struggle to stay consistent."
👉 "I want to feel stronger, leaner and more confident."
👉 "I need accountability and a simple plan that fits around real life."
Get in touch, we would love to help!
