We were delighted to welcome Alex McIntyre for Gloucester to Checkers Gymnastics last month.

During his visit, Alex met with some of our coaching team and spent time with a wide range of our gymnasts — from our recreational classes through to several of our top-level competitive gymnasts. It was a valuable opportunity to showcase the range of talent and dedication across the club, and to highlight the role grassroots sport plays in building confidence and community right here in Gloucester.

With over 40 years of coaching experience, Checkers Gymnastics remains proud to be one of the South West's leading clubs — and visits like this are a reminder of the positive impact our sport has on young people's lives, whatever their level.

We were also grateful for Alex's support in helping us look ahead to the future of the club, and we look forward to working together to help Checkers grow and provide even more children across Gloucester with access to gymnastics.

It was brilliant heading down to Checkers Gymnastics last month.

Gloucester is full of fantastic grassroots talent, and it was inspiring to see young people training hard, supporting each other and showing real dedication to their sport.

Clubs like Checkers are such an important part of our city: they give young people confidence, discipline, friendship and a place to thrive. I loved hearing from coaches about the work they’re doing and from the gymnasts themselves about their ambitions for the future.

🏆 Club Competition — Sat 17th & Sun 18th October
A little later than usual this year, due to the increased number of competitions on the calendar! For any new members who aren't familiar — Club Competition is our yearly friendly, in-house competition where all our members get involved and show off everything they've been working so hard on!

🎁 Bonanza — Sunday 13th December
Our biggest show of the year is back — and the most anticipated event of the year for our members and parents alike! For anyone new to Checkers — Bonanza is our end of year show, where all our members take part in putting on a fantastic performance for family and friends. 🎄

Tonight was Zane’s last training session with us as he begins an exciting new chapter, moving to train full-time at Andover.

Zane, we want to wish you the very best of luck in your next adventure. Over the past 11 years, you have achieved so much, and it has been an absolute privilege to watch you grow—not only as an incredible gymnast but also as a kind, hardworking, and determined young man. Your dedication, resilience, and passion have inspired everyone around you, and we couldn’t be prouder of everything you’ve accomplished.

While we’re going to miss having you in the gym, we’re so excited to see where this next step takes you. We have no doubt that you’ll continue to achieve amazing things, and we can’t wait to follow your journey and celebrate all of your future successes.

Six long weeks off school can mean six weeks of "I'm bored", but it doesn't have to! Give your kids a summer to remember with our 2026 Summer Holiday Camps, running across 5 action-packed weeks from 27th July to 28th August, packed with gymnastics, tumbling, games, and plenty of new friends along the way.

🤸 Gymnastics Fun Camp (9:30am-4pm)
A full day of gymnastics, games, and non-stop fun—perfect for energetic kids who love to move, learn, and make new friends!

🤾 Beginners/Mini Tumbling (9:30am-12:30pm)
Got a little one who loves to cartwheel around the house? This is the perfect camp for them to learn new tumbling skills in a safe, fun environment.

🤾 Intermediate/Advanced Tumbling (1pm-4pm)
For experienced tumblers ready to refine their skills, gain some extra coaching, and maybe even pick up a brand new skill or two!

👶 Drop-In Play Club (Ages 2-5, 10am-12pm)
The perfect place for little ones to bounce, climb, and explore! Full access to our gym and all the equipment for a morning of energetic, sensory-filled fun.
