As the sun sets on another season, it’s time to pack away the cricket equipment until next year. We’re asking volunteers from all sections to gather at the club at 6:30pm this Friday evening (11th) to carry out tasks such as taking down the sightscreens, removing the covers and roping off the square. Many hands make light work, so please come along and help if you can! 🏏

One of the annual awards we present is for Champagne Moment of the Year. What do you think was most memorable moment by a Ruardean Hill player or team this season? It could be a stunning catch, an unplayable delivery, a brutal batting display, a victory against the odds - please let us know your 2026 nominations in the comments section below! 🏏

Bells Hotel and Country Club has been our Saturday shirt sponsor for a number of years, but it’s also the location for our end of season presentation evening. This year’s event is on SATURDAY 24TH OCTOBER. For more details, and to reserve your place(s), please message Adam Cole. All sections of the club will receive awards on the night, and it’s a great chance to look back on the year’s highlights - hope to see you there! 🏏

A soggy end to the Saturday league season saw all three teams have their games called off today (resulting in relegation for the 2nd XI). This hasn’t dampened our enthusiasm though - plans are already in place (such as applications for the construction of our new permanent practice area) to make 2027 our biggest and best year yet. Thank you to all who have been a part of this summer’s journey 🏏

Two more bowlers took their 100th wicket for Ruardean Hill last week. Congratulations to James Middlecote and Aiden Moore on reaching this significant milestone! ☄️

After playing pretty much every Wednesday and Sunday since the start of May, last night saw the women’s section’s final game of the season - an inter club pairs match between Molly’s Mischief Makers and Ellyn’s Gremlins. There was plenty of skill on show from both old and new cricketers, with first-time players Gwen (who took a great catch and bowled extremely well), Amie (a fielding superstar!), Jess and Evelyn (who both showed plenty of promise with the bat) all fitting in seamlessly. 12-year-olds Molly and Ellyn showed the future of the club is in safe hands by captaining their teams with great aplomb, as well as scoring 38 and 17 respectively. A thrilling match went down to the wire, with Iona hitting the last ball of the match (bowled by sister Joss) for four to seal the win for Molly’s team by the barest of margins, 149 net runs to 148. Great fun was had by all and we look forward to hopefully seeing everyone back at the Hill for more cricket next season - and if you’re reading this and think ‘I’d like to give cricket a go’, please feel free to join us! 🏏
