Auchinloch Bowling Club

Two more Pairs finals completed today.
The afternoon Ladies Balloted Pairs final was won by Jennifer Alexander and Mary Calder against Eileen Wilson and Rita Clarke.
The evening Gents Balloted Pairs final between the Kidd brothers against Alan Menzies and Bill Kerr was 14-11 in favour of Grant and Brian going into the final end.
Alan and Bill were holding 3 shots to take the game to an extra end until Brian played a winner with his final bowl to take the trophy.

The postponed Ladies 2 Bowl Pairs Final is still to be rearranged and a date will be posted soon.

Congratulations to all our finalists over the past hectic 4 days.

Three more finals played this afternoon with another family final in the George Ferguson Millennium trophy where Gordon McGill won 21-14 against son-in-law Grant. Katie Ferguson made the presentation to Gordon.
In the Presidents Trophy Brian Kidd came out victorious in a close game against Alan Menzies by a 21-17 margin.
In the Mixed Pairs final Jennifer Alexander and David Calder won against Mhairi Campbell and Gus Nicolson.
A notable treble of Singles trophies for Gordon in his first season and the Kidd brothers Brian and Grant have made a significant contribution to the Club in their initial season also.
The Club greatly appreciates the gracious speeches that Gordon and Brian have made over the weekend during the Trophy Presentations.
Two more finals tomorrow - the Ladies Balloted Pairs at 1.30pm and the Gents Nominated Pairs at 6pm.

The Finals continued this afternoon with 4 games. The results of the Singles were as follows:-

Gents Championship:-
Gordon McGill 21, Grant Kidd 13.

Ladies Championship:-
Mary Calder 21, Jennifer Alexander 18.

Ladies Vice Presidents trophy:-
Rita Clark 21, Eileen Wilson 13.

The Gents Balloted Pairs saw victory for Davy Campbell and Alan Menzies over Michael McWhinnie and Martin Walker.

There was a lot of intrigue in the Gents Championship with Gordon playing against his son-in-law Grant, but the longest game of the day was the Ladies Championship where Jennifer and Mary served up a terrific game over 27 ends.

The Finals weekend continued this evening with a 16-11 victory in the Gents 2 Bowl Pairs for Alec MacDonald and Alan Menzies against Michael McWhinnie and Gus Nicolson.

The Club Finals got underway this afternoon with the Ladies Rosebowl, the Gents Vice Presidents trophy and the Ladies Nominated Pairs.
Jennifer Alexander won the Rosebowl with a victory over Morag Daly while Gordon McGill triumphed in the Vice Presidents against Davy Campbell.
The final game to finish was the Ladies Nominated Pairs when a close game ended 14-11 in favour of Mary Calder and Mhairi Campbell against Elspeth Hunter and Rita Clark.
President Martin Walker made the trophy presentations.

The Club hosted the presentation day of the Kirkintilloch Ladies Bowling League courtesy of Mary Calder being the League President for 2026.
Congratulations to Woodilee Bowling Club on winning the league by a solitary point ahead of both Auchinloch and Abronhill. Our Ladies were runners up courtesy of a superior shot difference.
Thanks to the other 6 Clubs who joined Auchinloch in celebrating the conclusion of the Ladies Friday League.
Here’s hoping that our Ladies can finally win this League in 2027 after several second place finishes in recent years.🙏🤞

Congratulations to Rhys Kidd and Jessica Earl who won the Youth Pairs Final for Westerton BC with an 18-6 victory over West Barns at Northfield this afternoon.

Congratulations also go to Kristen, Cameron and Zoe of Condorrat BC who won 16-9 in the Youth Triples final bringing Gold to District 12.

Fantastic performances from these fine young bowlers.👏👏

Good luck to Rhys Kidd who has reached the Youth Pairs Final in the National Championships representing Westerton Bowling Club along with his partner Jessica Earl.
Rhys and Jessica have won 4 games over the weekend with the opening game against West End Stranraer being live streamed by Bowls Scotland.
The Final will be played tomorrow at Northfield.

As well as the Auchinloch association with the Kidd family, Jessica’s late Grandfather Sam Earl was a regular visitor to the Club back in the 1990s, taking part in our invitation Pairs Competitions where he was partnered by Alex Faichnie.
