Tonight, a dream more than a decade in the making becomes reality for one remarkable young dancer from North Lanarkshire.

At just 15 years old, Oscar Donnelly from New Stevenston will step onto the stage at Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall as part of the world-famous Lord of the Dance — performing in front of a home crowd with the man who inspired him from the very beginning, Irish dancing legend Michael Flatley.

For Oscar, this is far more than another performance.

It is the moment he has dreamed about since the age of three, when he first put on his dancing shoes and discovered a passion that would take him from the stages of Scotland to the biggest Irish dancing competitions in the world.

And tonight, he gets to share the stage with his idol.

A five-time world champion

Oscar arrives in Glasgow with an extraordinary list of achievements for someone still only 15.

A five-time world champion, his latest triumph came earlier this year when he won the Under-15 Boys World Irish Dance Championship in Schaumburg, Illinois.

He has also enjoyed an incredible run of success at national level, winning All-Ireland titles every year since 2023, as well as British National and All-Scotland honours.

Yet despite all those medals, trophies and championships, tonight promises to be something completely different.
