We obviously would have loved him at Rangers again, but the reality is if we aren’t competing in Europe or competitive in the league we aren’t going to attract the best young talent out there as loan options.

The teenager has a massive future ahead of him, and I’ve no doubt we will look back in years down the line and be grateful we got that one season out of him.

Kevin Kelsy is currently undergoing his Rangers medical, and if all goes well he will be announced later today.

He will be the 13th signing of the summer.

Two notable absentees from yesterdays squad as both look likely to move on.

Nico Raskin will be missed in the centre of the park, but hopefully that means Barron will cement his place in the team with a similar role but it’s not looking likely with the lack of opportunities he’s had. Unfair considering his effort last season before injury.

Bojan Miovski has never hit the level we expected of him, but at no fault of his own. He scored a lot of goals last season given the lack of starts and appearances. I’d say he’s arguably our best striker in the squad right now though in terms of what we need.

Lawrence Shankland hasn’t exactly hit the ground running since joining Rangers, but to take a penalty at 0-0 in the 69th min and to put it away with such style will be massive for everyone at the club.

That 3 points was massive yesterday, regardless of the performance.
