โ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ Rounding Off June in Style ๐ฉต๐
As June drew to a close, the Harriers were still out in force, with strong performances on the road, the track and the trails - and a fantastic turnout from our junior section. A brilliant way to round off another busy month of racing!
โก Scottish Veteran Harriers 5K
The fast Clydebank course provided the perfect opportunity for some quick times. Alastair Campbell produced a superb run to finish 4th overall in 15:39, while Rachel Harman crossed the line in a strong 19:47. Morag Campbell continued her incredible veteran form, claiming ๐ฅV70 Female in 23:46. Outstanding running all round!
๐ณ Up & Running 5K @ Elder Park
The popular summer series returned to Elder Park, and Mhairi Mactier returned to form, finishing as ๐ฅ female in 19:50 on a warm summer evening. Great running, Mhairi! ๐๐ป
๐๏ธ Calderglen 10K & Junior Trail Races
The scenic but undulating Calderglen course tested both seniors and juniors alike. Matthew Brown led the Harriers home in the 10km with strong runs also from Jayne MacNamara, Stephanie Rudd and Michael Meehan. The future of the club was shining brightly too, with 7 Bellahouston juniors taking part in the accompanying trail races. Lyra Bryers Clark claimed ๐ฅplace in the U10s, Amy Heffron secured ๐ฅ place in the U12s, and Callum Walker, Arran Bryers Clark and Andrew Wilson combined to win the ๐ฅ U16 boys team prize in the 5km. Fantastic to see so many young Harriers embracing the challenge and representing the club with such determination and team spirit! ๐
๐๐ Northern Ireland Masters Track & Field Championships
Further afield, Brent Brodie added another title to his collection, securing gold in the 1500m finishing in 4:32. A brilliant performance on the track and a fantastic way to round off the month!
Hereโs to more summer miles, sunshine, and success in July! ๐๐ช๐ป

โ๏ธ๐ฅ Heatwave Miles for the Harriers ๐ฉต๐
The summer sun certainly hasnโt slowed the Harriers down! Over the past couple of weeks, members have been out in force across the country. ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ
๐ฒ Acorn Trails Toota-Linn โจFour Harriers took on the woodland trails and rolling terrain of Toota-Linn, with Kristina Glynn continuing her outstanding form to take ๐ฅplace overall. Well done also to Deirdre Parkinson, Gordon Gallacher and Davie Gemmell for flying the Bellahouston colours.
๐๐ด Ride to the SunโจSwapping running shoes for cycling cleats, Dee Harrington completed the iconic overnight 100-mile Ride to the Sun from Carlisle to Cramond, finishing in an impressive 6:33:23. What an effort! ๐๐ป
๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ Port Glasgow 10K Fun RunโจThe Henderson duo were back in action, crossing the line together in 49:07. Another great outing for Pauline and Garry.๐
๐ St Cyrus 10KโจOn one of Scotlandโs most scenic coastal routes, Ruth Harrison ran strongly to finish in 48:33. ๐๐ป
๐๏ธ Isle of Skye Half MarathonโจThree Harriers made the trip north for one of Scotlandโs most iconic half marathons. Donald McLaren led the team home in 1:19:53, Patrick Timmons dipped under 90 minutes with 1:26:20, and Brian Fulton finished strongly in 1:42:07. Brilliant running against a stunning Highland backdrop. โฐ๏ธ
Another brilliant few weeks of racing, riding and trail running for the Harriers. Long may the summer adventures continue! โ๏ธ๐

๐ฅ Jamie Crowe and Brogan Wallace secured maiden wins at the Brian Goodwin Memorial 10k on Friday night on a muggy evening in Glasgowโs southside. Completing the two fast and flat loops mostly within the grounds of Pollok Park in a winning time of 29:46, Crowe of Central Athletics scratched a seven-year itch after a second placed finish on his last appearance at Bellahouston Harriersโ flagship event in 2019.
๐ช The race for the other podium places in the menโs race was keenly contested. Former Harrier, now Kilbarchan AAC runner, Robbie Ferguson posted a seasonโs best 10k on the road of 30:39 to take second place, with just a six second gap to Falkirk Victoria Harriers athlete Scott Stirling (30:45). Stirling edged out Fraser Gilmour by just seven seconds himself as the top four all broke the 31-minute mark. First man home for the Bellahouston Harriers was Alasdair Campbell in 10th (32:26).
๐ For Wallace, her win in the womenโs race marks the latest milestone in a successful 12 months or so, having recorded PBs in the 5k, 10k and marathon on the road in 2025 and backing that up with another PB of 2:35:01 in the London Marathon this year. Wallaceโs winning time on Friday was 34:19. Just 14 seconds behind Wallace was Grace Whelan (34:33), who competes for both Central AC and Strathclyde University. Springburn Harriers Running & Athletics Clubโ Cat Gillen (36:32) completed the podium.
๐ In the team events, where the top four finishers per club count towards the team score, it was a home win for Bellahouston Harriers in the womenโs race. Rosa Donaldson, fourth in the individual event, led the charge for the host club, followed by Rachel Harman, Emily Renfrew and Julie Lynch, for a collective score of 42. Bellahouston Road Runners were second and Victoria Park City of Glasgow third.
In the menโs team event, Kilbarchan AAC edged Bellahouston Harriers into second, with Cambuslang Harriers third. Jack Heathwoodโs eighth place and Stuart Kerr in 37th backed up Ferguson and Gilmourโs fine runs for a collective score of 49 for the Renfrewshire club.
๐ In total, there were 392 finishers, of which 110 runners had a chip time under 40 minutes. The first 48 runners broke 36 minutes, with 21 of those runners sub-34.
๐ค Bellahouston Harriers president Scott Mason said: โHuge congratulations to Jamie and Brogan on their excellent runs, and indeed to all our prize winners. Vouchers, provided by our fantastic race sponsor Migo Sports, will be posted out to all our age-grade prize winners.โ
๐คฉ โThank you to the 70-plus volunteers who gave their time, energy and good humour to the event, including many helping hands from our juniors. Every marshal, course helper, registration volunteer, baggage helper, water station volunteer, finish area helper, set-up crew, clear-up crew, and everyone in between played their part. This yearโs event was another reminder of what makes the Goodwin special. It is fast, competitive and serious where it needs to be, but it is also warm, welcoming and full of community. We look forward to doing it all over again in 2027!โ he said.
