Congrats Rosa & Lee on the wins 🏆 💙

There were eighty-six participants at the August event, including several in the purple vests of Bellahouston Road Runners who were using the Best Wee Race in Scotland as part of their club championship. However, it was runners from their friendly local rivals, Bellahouston Harriers, who took the plaudits, with Lee Shaw winning the men's event in 9:33 and Rosa Donaldson the women's in 10:18.

Congratulations to them and to everyone else who participated in the race, helping raise some £206, which will be donated to Combat Stress. Many thanks to all the volunteers who made the event happen.

🪡 Paisley 10k and fun run.

😍 The eagerly awaited and ever popular Paisley 10k and fun run took place on Sunday the 16th of August 2025 in excellent running conditions.

🎽 The 10k attracted over 2000 runners making it one of Scotlands busiest and premier events. The race was the 10th in our clubs summer championship and attracted 54 harrier finishers comprised of 51 seniors and three of our promising juniors. It was a very good day to be a harrier with some excellent performances from members both old and new.

🏆 The harrier ladies showcased their talents with a first team prize awarded to Rosa Donaldson 5th with a time of 36:37. Kristina Glynn in 18 place and the improving Joanne Frith in 26th place.

🥇 Morag Campbell ran an excellent race in the V 70 category and placed first. Some other excellent results included a new PB for Jennifer Walker and an excellent run Julie Mcquillan.

🥈 In the mens event there was a further podium place for the harriers men’s team placing second in an extremely competive race. Alasdair Campbell with a fine 4th place in 32:25 was ably supported by Adam Stark 8th and Rhys Williams 17th.
🥈 Iain Carroll ran an excellent race 2nd in the V40 category and 4th male harrier finisher. Christopher Morris and Alastair Patience ran over two minutes faster than they did in earlier 2026 10k races

🤩 Calum Walker one of the clubs juniors at 15 years of age ran an impressive 39:02.

💙 The clubs burgeoning junior section under the guidance and direction of head coach June Mcleod fielded 9 competitors in the Paisley fun run. An astonishing 1378 focussed runners competed.

The club had excellent performances across the board for the fun run.

🙌 Arran Byers Clark 8th, Andrew Wilson 11th Jonah Byers Clark 82nd. The harriers girls were equally impressive with Amy Hefferon 10th girl and Rebecca Smith finishing 20th.

Another brilliant day's parkrunning done in ideal conditions this morning...huge thanks to our 209 runners and 18 volunteers.
We were honoured to have a contingent from Bellahouston Harriers join us to celebrate the joint 300th parkrun for two of their number, Deirdre Hoyle and Jacqueline Glass...and we also celebrated with cake as one of our scanners today, Grace Gallagher was sharing her 18th birthday with us all...congratulations all round...
But the really big news today wad made by one of our Bellahouston visitors, Alasdair Campbell, who has gone home to the southside with our male course record ..16.01..taking 4 seconds off our previous mark which had stood for nearly 7 years. No stranger to fast times, Alasdair, and previous holder of a course record at Levengrove...so well done yet again on a fantastic achievement..
So...let's do it all again next week.??

💙 Bellahouston Harriers | More Than Running

Bellahouston Harriers is one of Scotland’s oldest running clubs, founded in 1892. There is a lot of history behind the saltire vest - but what keeps a club relevant after more than 130 years is its people.

We’ve produced a short video, working with videographer Flynn Smith. Watch it to get a glimpse of a Thursday night track session and to hear directly from some of our members about what they value most about Bellahouston Harriers.

At its simplest we are everyday people who like to run. The video helps to tell our story.

What a fantastic few weeks of racing for our Harriers, with brilliant performances across the roads, trails, hills - and even a little bit of the Tour de France! 🙌

💚 3K on the Green
On the last Friday in July, seven Harriers took on the 3K on the Green. First Harrier home was Lee Shaw, storming to an amazing 7th place in 9:40!
🥇 The first female Harrier home was Rosa Donaldson, finishing in the top 10 in 10:08 - fantastic running!
💪 Great performances too from Eddie Nelson, David Johnston, Graeme Gemmell, Deirdrie Harrington and David Gemmell. Well done everyone!

🔴🟡⚫️ QA5K

🙌 In Race 4, Rhys Williams finished 18th in 16:31.
🔥 In Race 5, Alasdair Campbell claimed 16th place in an amazing 15:16, followed by excellent runs from Adam Stark (15:41) and Fraser Armstrong (15:52).

🌊 Bill Elder 10K
The Bill Elder 10K is a fast, flat and scenic road race along the Clyde organised by our freinds at Greenock Glenpark Harriers , Gary and Pauline Henderson travelled West and came away with fantastic results. Pauline finished in 46:23, taking 🥇 place in her age category , while Gary finished in 44:36, taking 🥈 V60 .
🤩 Brilliant running from both!

🇫🇷 L’Étape du Tour de France Femmes
Not content with running, Deirdre Harrington took on the incredible L’Étape du Tour de France Femmes, giving amateur cyclists the chance to experience a section of the Women’s Tour de France. After training hard on the hills of Scotland, Deirdre tackled the tough route - including the (in)famous Mont Ventoux climb - and completed it in 9:25!

🏔️Love Arran 10K
A small group of Harriers made the boat trip across to Brodick on Arran to take part in the Brodick Highland Games. In the inaugural Love Arran 10K Trail Run, Rosa Donaldson was the 🥇 female home, while Fraser Armstrong finished 🥉 male. Great running from both, and well done to everyone who took part!

🏁🌧️ Summer Racing Rolls On 🩵💙
From a Club Championships showdown to island half marathons and another scenic 10K, the Harriers kept the racing momentum going across Scotland this week.

🏆 Kilmaurs 5km �The eighth event in this year’s Club Championships saw 29 Harriers make the trip to Kilmaurs, with plenty more lining the course to cheer on the team. Thankfully the rain eased just in time, making for some excellent racing on the fast but undulating course. Alasdair Campbell was the over all winner & first Harrier home, breaking the tape in a superb 15:39 🥇, while Kristina Glynn continued her excellent season, leading the women home in 18:59. Age category honours once again went to Pauline Henderson (1st V60) and Morag Campbell (1st V70). A brilliant evening of racing and another fantastic turnout for the Club Championships! 💙

⛴️ Mull Half Marathon�One of Scotland’s most picturesque half marathons, the Mull Half offers runners stunning island scenery alongside a challenging route. Jacqueline Tappin & Ruth Harrison made the trip across the water and finished strongly in 1:34:41 and 1:52:19. Well done, both! 👏🏻

🥃 Islay Half Marathon�Another island adventure saw Alasdair Campbell head to Islay, where he produced a brilliant run to secure 🥇 place with a new PB of 1:14:41 🔔. Morag Campbell also had a great run, securing 1st V60 in a time of 1:52:34. Excellent performances on one of Scotland’s most unique half marathon courses!

🌊 Dunoon 10K�With its scenic coastal setting and welcoming atmosphere, the Dunoon 10K attracted another pair of Harriers. Well done to Barry Mitchell and Anna Grant for representing the club and taking on the route. 👏🏻

🌞🏃‍♂️ Keeping the Summer Spirit Alive 🩵💙
July continued in the same vein for the Harriers, with members taking on everything from tough hill races and ultra-distance events to club championships, trail races and milestone parkruns!

⛰️ Maddy Moss Mash 8K Hill Race - A challenging hill race through the Campsies, the Maddy Moss Mash combines steep climbs with fast descents and spectacular views for those willing to tackle it. Patrick Timmons led the Harriers home in 1:06:57, with Ross McWhirter following in 1:20:05. Well done to you both for conquering the hills! 💪🏻

🌬️ Run the Blades - Set amongst the Whitelee Windfarm, Run the Blades offers runners a unique opportunity to race across rolling service roads with stunning panoramic views.

🥈 Greig Corr-Macleod produced another outstanding performance, finishing 2nd overall in the 50K with a superb 3:50:21.
- In the 10K, Andrew Fairlie completed the course in 46:02, while Mark Webster tackled the Half Marathon, finishing strongly in 1:53:11. Brilliant running across all three distances!

🌳 Up & Running 5K @ Glasgow Green - The popular summer series rolled on at Glasgow Green, with the Wilson family out in force. Well done to Andrew, Elizabeth and Debbie Wilson for another enjoyable evening of racing together. 💙

🏆 Cuningar Loop parkrun - Club Championships Event #7 - A fantastic turnout of 55 Harriers gathered at Cuningar Loop to contest another Club Championships event. Matthew O’Brien and Kristina Glynn were first male and female Harriers home respectively, while a special mention goes to junior member Amy Heffron, who ran a superb PB and achieved an outstanding age-grade performance. 👏🏻

🌲 Acorn Trails - Rouken Glen - The Acorn Trail Series returned to the beautiful woodland trails of Rouken Glen Park, with another trio of Harriers in action. Magda Thomas claimed 🥇 1st Female, Eddie Neilson took🥇 V50, and Gordon Gallacher also enjoyed a strong run. Congratulations all! 👏🏻

🌳🎉 Parkrun Milestones
A couple of brilliant milestones to celebrate this month! Carole Spy reached the incredible milestone of 500 parkruns at Linwood, meanwhile David Gemmell completed his 200th parkrun at Cuningar Loop & Deirdre Parkinson celebrated 100 parkruns at Albert Parkrun in Middlesborough. What an achievement! 💙
