The work is done and the course is looking sharp. Best of luck to everyone competing in finals day today!
Many thanks

Fantastic greens, manicured fairways, easy walking golf course, 5 minutes from Glasgow City Centre.
Haggs Castle provides a glorious exception to the old adage that the best golf is always found in the most remote surroundings. To find such a superb course in a secluded setting only minutes away from the bustle of Glasgow City Centre is a constant surprise to the visitor and a source of pleasure and pride to our members. Set in the magnificent mature parkland of the Pollok Estate, Haggs Castle p

The greens are already rolling fantastic, but we’re taking them to the next level for Finals Day. Our team will be out first light in the morning giving them a fresh cut with our new hand mowers, plus a double roll for extra speed and ultra-smooth conditions.
More to come

We are reaching the culmination of this year’s knockout and Club competitions, and we’re looking forward to seeing some scintillating golf on the course this Saturday.
Firstly, congratulations to all of our finalists on making it to this prestigious day. We hope you enjoy every minute of the experience, and we’ve got a few things up our sleeve to help make the occasion even more memorable.
We’d also like to thank every Member who has taken part in this year’s competitions. If you didn’t quite make it to the final this time, there’s always next year! Without everyone who enters and competes throughout the season, we simply wouldn’t be able to have the Finals Day we’re looking forward to on Saturday.
And Finals Day isn’t just for those playing. It would be fantastic to see plenty of support out on the course, so if you’re not competing and don’t have plans for the weekend, why not come down, follow some of the matches and enjoy what should be some excellent golf?
Once the final putts have dropped, the day doesn’t have to end there. We’ve got a relaxed evening of entertainment planned at the Club, so whether you fancy singing a few songs, listening to some music, celebrating your victory or commiserating what might have been, you’ll be very welcome.
Our team will be here to help carry a memorable Finals Day well into the evening.
Good luck to everyone competing. Play well and, most importantly, enjoy the day!

I am pleased to advise that the Halfway House will be open for business on Tuesday 25th August, from 9:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
It will be staffed professionally, courteously and most importantly, efficiently by our very own Vice Captain, Jim Griffin!!!
There will be a selection of soft drinks, cold rolls and sandwiches, tea and coffee, beers and snacks available throughout the day. There is no need to carry cash – all you need is your bar card.
Hopefully the weather will play ball. The forecast at the moment is looking good, so it should be a nice day to stop by the Halfway House and enjoy some refreshments during your round.
We hope Members have a great day and enjoy this relatively new addition to our service line-up!

Course Update ⛳
Here is a look at what the team has been working on across your course:
Greens:
Completed Air2g2 aeration, Sarrel rolling, and verti-cutting. Weekly spoon-fed nutrition, PGRs, daily hand mowing, and rolling continue alongside fresh cup paint and new Haggs logo sleeves in the cups.
Aprons & Surrounds:
Targeted VGR TopChanger treatments underway to boost soil drainage. Mown 3x a week, with fringes getting a double freaky once a week, supported by monthly foliar feeding and PGR.
Tees:
Cut 3x a week with ongoing divoting. Granular feed applied to heavy-wear tees (2, 7, 11) and selected short par-4s, backed by monthly foliar and PGR inputs.
Fairways:
Cut 3x a week. Monthly nutrition and PGR programme scheduled for next week, all things going to plan.
Bunkers & Presentation:
Bunkers regularly raked, with sand moved and topped up as required as an ongoing process, flymoed and blown.
Painted some of the more weathered course signage and blue staked wildflower areas.
Strimmed and edged the 5th path (now awaiting a pressure wash to complete).
Winter Prep & Drainage:
Ongoing drainage sump investigations in preparation for our winter work programme, noting and storing key data to guide future improvements.
Thank you for your ongoing support as we keep pushing to improve the product.
Many thanks again

Staff Announcement : Congratulations & Special Thanks
We are delighted to announce the promotion of Iain Presly to First Assistant Greenkeeper! 👏
This promotion is thoroughly deserved. Iain plays an integral role in our day-to-day operations, setting the benchmark for work ethic and detail across the course. He consistently leads by example, taking our younger staff and apprentices under his wing to instill the high standards demanded here at Haggs Castle Golf Club. Beyond his work with the greenkeeping crew, Iain has also taken the lead on organising and driving our volunteer divoting sessions, ensuring our team and volunteers work seamlessly together. Please join us in congratulating Iain on this well-earned advancement when you next see him on the course!
Huge thanks to Our Volunteers & Members
Maintaining a course at peak standard relies on the dedication of our wider community. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to:
Our Volunteer Divoting Teams:
Thank you to everyone who gives up their time to assist during our dedicated divoting sessions, brilliantly led by Iain.
A special mention also goes to our Junior Section, who have been getting heavily involved thanks to the encouragement of Team manager and Assistant Greenkeeper William Orr!
The Ladies Section:
Thank you for your efforts in integrating wildflowers across the course, greatly enhancing both our landscape and local ecology.
Past Captain Charles Freeland:
A special mention to Charles for his tireless, single-handed efforts in controlling the invasive Himalayan balsam across the course.
Our Membership:
A huge thank you to every member who regularly carries divot bags and takes the time to repair pitchmarks and divots during their rounds. Your proactive care directly aids turf recovery, protects our surfaces, and plays a vital role in maintaining the condition and playability of our course every day.
Thank you all for your ongoing commitment and support to Haggs Castle Golf Club! ⛳️
Many Thanks

A special thank you to our incredible line-up of comedians:

We're bringing something genuinely special to the Club on Saturday 18th July for Members and their Friends!
Headlining our first ever comedy night is Raymond Mearns, one of Scotland's most respected comedians and a regular on the Glasgow comedy circuit. This is the kind of headline act you'd normally head into the city to see.
Joining Raymond will be three more professional comedians, making it a full evening of top quality live comedy. At just £17 per ticket, it's exceptional value.
This is part of our commitment to bringing bigger and better events to Haggs and taking our social calendar to the next level!
We think it's going to be a fantastic evening and we'd love you to be there.
Tickets are available from the bar. Reserve your place today!
