If we want better outcomes for children, families and communities, we need to start by educating the adults who support them 💗

One of the things I love most about delivering Little Greene Yoga Teacher Training is that no two students are ever the same.

Recently, I had the pleasure of training an incredible young woman who works within family support services for Brighter Futures Jersey. I was genuinely amazed by her depth of knowledge around psychology, attachment, trauma and the nervous system.

It reinforced something I strongly believe:

✨ Great training should never be one-size-fits-all ✨

At Little Greene Yoga, we help every student explore how our methods can work within *their* environment, *their* profession and for the people they support.

Using our 3–8yrs Foundation Years syllabus, we explored:

🌿 Nervous system regulation
🌿 Movement & breathing techniques
🌿 Storytelling for emotional learning
🌿 Practical tools to support both adults and children
🌿 Building stronger parent-child relationships

Whether we’re supporting children, parents, teachers or organisations… we all share the same nervous system and respond to movement, breath, connection and safety.

This is why our training goes far beyond learning yoga poses.

We train:

✨ Independent instructors
✨ School staff & teachers
✨ Family support professionals
✨ Organisations supporting wellbeing & development

YOU DON'T NEED TO BE CALM ALL THE TIME.

In fact, being regulated doesn't mean feeling calm all the time.

One of the questions I was asked during a recent podcast interview was:

"What does being in control of your own body actually look like?"

My answer...

It's not about being calm.

Before a presentation, a sporting event, an exam or any challenge that matters to us, we often need that surge of adrenaline and energy to perform.

A racing heart.
Butterflies in your stomach.
Sweaty palms.

These aren't signs that something is wrong.

There are signs that you're human.

The problem comes when we don't understand what's happening in our body.

When we understand our nervous system, we learn to recognise when we need to SWITCH ON and when we need to SWITCH OFF.

Too much time spent switching on?
Stress, overwhelm and eventually burnout.

Too much time switched off?
Disengagement, low motivation and low mood.

The goal isn't to stay calm all the time.

The goal is learning how to move between states and having the tools to influence your state when you need to.

This understanding is at the heart of the work I do in schools with both teachers and students.

Have you ever mistaken a normal stress response for something being "wrong" with you?

Teachers are exhausted.

Children are struggling more than ever with:

*focus
*regulation
*transitions
*concentration

After 24 years working in schools, one thing has become very clear:

It all starts with the nervous system.

Our Foundation Years (3–8yrs) training teaches practical ways to use:
✔ movement
✔ breath
✔ rhythm
✔ storytelling

…within real classrooms to help children regulate and access learning.

This isn’t about creating “perfectly calm” children.

It’s about giving teachers practical tools that actually work in modern classrooms.

June Jersey training now has only 2 places remaining.
