It is with profound sadness and utterly broken hearts that we confirm that our much-loved colleague and friend, Abby Wheeler, was one of the divers involved in the tragic incident in Loch Fyne on Sunday, 26th July.
Like so many of you, we are still trying to come to terms with this devastating news. Abby was far more than a member of our team – they were a friend, a valued colleague and a huge part of the Aquatron family.
Their kindness, enthusiasm, infectious smile and love for diving touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing them. They leave a space in our hearts that can never be filled.
At this stage, we have no further information regarding the circumstances surrounding the incident and, out of respect for Abby, their family and everyone involved, we will not speculate or comment on matters that are currently unknown.
Our thoughts, love and deepest condolences are with Abby's mum and dad, their family, their friends, and everyone whose life they touched. We cannot begin to imagine the heartbreak they are experiencing, and we ask that they be given the time and privacy they need to grieve.
The Scottish diving community is a close-knit one, and we know many of you are feeling this loss alongside us. We are incredibly grateful for the messages of love and support we have already received.
Abby will always be part of the Aquatron family, and they will never be forgotten
We kindly ask everyone to respect Abby's family's privacy at this incredibly difficult time and to refrain from speculation while the circumstances of this tragic incident are being established.
Details of a celebration of life gathering will be shared in due course.
Rest in peace, Abby. You will be missed more than words can ever say.
