Moira smashed out a cracking race time at Perth half marathon 2nd August 2026

“The inaugural Perth Running Festival on Sunday 2nd August had a decent turnout - 500+ in the half marathon, 100+ in the 7.5K and around 50 in the 1 mile. I ran the half marathon for training and race prep ahead of a marathon scheduled in October.
The route is ideal - it starts and finishes at the Scone Park racecourse and heads mostly on an out and back course with a small loop round bridges in town where other local park users cheered everyone on. It is run mostly on new tarmac paths alongside the new bridge and roads in the area with some of it on established walking trails through wooded parkland. Described as “pancake flat” I was correct in working out that the initial gradual drop down over the new bridge at mile 2 would be a bit of a slow drag up again for mile 12 but overall, climbs were minimal.
This was a great route to establish a steady pace and then dig in for the last few miles. All the pacing experience gained from my P3 marathon training plan paid off and I was able to finish exactly as I had hoped (“1.48ish”) with a 1.47:55 chip time.
I really recommend this event for next year - not too busy, great route, nice vibes and decent facilities. The really fast people were inspiring to see in action where they met the outgoing runners once they had turned round. When getting to this event by car it is best to be early to avoid the peak rush to park up in the allocated parking area. Parking is so handy for the start and finish that it is temping to skip the warm/up or cool/down!
Thanks for the training plan Fiona maurer - it seems to be working for me!” Perth Running Festival

Earlier in the year Ros smashed out a podium spot at the Scottish Duathlon Champs qualifying for Spain next year. She did it again at the British Age-Group Middle Distance Triathlon Championships

“I chose to enter the Northumbrian as it has an off-road run which my knees now prefer. It’s a really well-organised race & this year had lots of pointy helmets and space-age bikes there too (not mine). My swim was as leisurely as ever, bike on a great course was disappointingly wet & cold but the sun came out on the run round a bit of Kielder Water. I was pleased to enjoy it despite the midgies & would recommend it as a very friendly event.
Big Thank you Fiona @ P3 coaching for all your help and advice.”

A great year stacking up for 2027. Enjoy your recovery!!
