In 1846, the Khalsa Raj was divided and conquered by the British & Maharaja Duleep Singh was removed from the throne with his power and title dissolved at 10 years old.

Later separated from his mother, Maharani Jind Kaur, he was influenced to become a Christian. A year later at 16, he was exiled to England, where he become Queen Victoria's favourite possession along with his Koh-i-Noor diamond amongst her other acquired colonial godchildren of different kingdoms.
“Those eyes and those teeth are too beautiful”. Queen Victoria was said to remark.

He later was moved to Scotland in 1855, given an annual pension, culturally reconstructed and placed under wardship of Sir John Spencer Logan, who leased him Castle Menzies, near Aberfeldy (above), becoming known as “the Black Prince of Perthshire”.

In 1860, Duleep Singh returned briefly to connect his mother Maharani Jind Kaur, banished by the British Raj to Kathmandu, Nepal for her influence. Over the course of a year, Rani Jind told Duleep Singh of his fathers legacy and spirit of Khalsa, influencing him to regain his roots. The British watched warily, Lord Dalhousie, the Governor-General of India, once noted about Maharani Jind Kaur that “She is worth more than all the soldiers of the state put together for any purpose of mischief.”

Maharaja Duleep Singh reclaimed his Sikh identity and moved to Paris in 1886 where he later died in the Hotel Tremouille in 1893. His royal lineage and house of Sukerchakia Misl became extinct in 1926 with the passing away of his son Prince 'Freddy' under 'uterine primogeniture'. His Daughter Sofia Duleep Singh famous suffragette of pioneering UK woman's rights who was also tracked for wanting to reconnect with her ancestral homeland died in 1948, ending his lineage.

Upon reading the words 'Sikh Nation' on the grave of Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s Grandson in the quiet highlands of Scotland, I burst into tears. Where did this sadness, grieving and loss come from? Upon introspection, I realise there was a deep ancestral trauma and wound of disconnection, from a kingdom, a civilisation, a culture, an identity, a sovereignty...

Nihang نهنگ the mythical water dragon of the Chitrali Mythology in northwestern Pakistan. How are mythological motifs employed?

As we are in the year of the snake, let us ponder on the serpent energy.

🐉 The flexible nature of a wise sage, weaving mutually beneficial relationships fostering social harmony, Guanxi (關係) or izzat (Gauravam, गौरवम्) between peoples.

🐍 The Bujangi (ਬੁਅੰਗੀ) serpent like nature of fearlessness, courage and agility of a warrior.

🐲 The soverign shāhanshāh or pādīshāh شاهنشاه, (پادشاه)) supreme, emperor like and royal abundant nature.

When woven from mythology into cultural attire, architecture and martial arts, such as with the ancient Welsh and Chinese, this energy formalises a civilisations authoritative, authentic and aeonian nature.

In this way Guru Hargobind as a sovereign king created 'Akal Sena', Army of Immortals during the 17th Century from the formless and form aspects essence of nature. Present as in second last picture in the Royal Sikh Kingdom Court (darbaar) of Maharaja Ranjit Singh.

This aspect of the dragon is present as a warrior lineage in the Sikh pan-theon (Πάνθειον, all sacred). This aspect also has the quality of upholding the integrity of character and traditions as a backbone.

In this way we may explore the intricate nature of a culture and how an individuals essence and psyche can be created or destroyed.

As cultures advance artistically they may further embellish their underlying philosophical and mythological motifs as above for inspiration and beauty of the divine manifest...

Apologies for any mistakes in this exploration🙏

How has intelligence been colonised? 🤔

👣 Navigating through different religious centres, corporate, spiritual, new age and sustainable farming communities I've felt discoherence in certain aspects of consciousness.

Whether it be authenticity of tradition, spiritual depth or emotional resonance at a human level.

Growing up I would consider myself a 🥥 with not much cultural or spiritual understanding.
Instagram community has been a blessing to learn and connect more to understand Sikhi and the extent of colonisation!

It's becoming more apparent how important culture is and how to reclaim & integrate in a personal way. This allows us to frame our lives towards a dharmic (righteous) direction.

🧭 Would love to share some illuminating explorations and ideas on how our very own thought spectrum and perception on our community has been fractured.

💡What do you think about how your thought stream or your community has been supressed?

Inspired style posts and by h 108 framework of Guru Granth Sahib, Sri Dasam and & Sri Sarbloh Granths.

Cosmic Forgiving Justice

I forgive those reflections a million times
Who directed anger at my innocent mind
Who judged me for my presence
That thought I was worth their condescendance
Who tried to control, censor my thoughts and actions
Afraid and misunderstood my deepest passions
Instigating self-doubt in my dreams and visions
Trying to suppress my energy, voice and mission
Churning pain causing avoidance and addiction
How to face the inner hurt, free from aggression?
I forgive those who were locked in fear
They could not see me with their heart of love clear

I forgive myself for giving my power away
Claim it back a billion fold from those disoriented days
From warped narcissists who enjoyed the dynamic
Of playing to an empath, old games that are karmic
Where sacred energy was leaked and stolen
Subtle manipulations, shame and guilt caused wounds to open
To allow being sucked dry, extracted and walked on, a door mat
People pleasing, validation needed, no boundaries intact
I forgive myself for not valuing my beauty and worth
To stand up, let go of any leeches and curse
To bottle up anger, fear to be accepted and seen
Losing myself to expectations of the fake broken mean
Cast out their guilt tripping delusions
Cut the cord of so many illusions
The intensity behind this is not mine
Rather something gracefully intervening, divine design

Restore my inner child to its joy again
A sacred protected power, safe from preying mirrors of women and men
The rejuvenation of the collapsed solar plexus
Arises a celestial surge from deep in that nexus
Reforging an identity of victim casualties
To one empowered by discerning entities
Give permission to explore the sensitivity inside
And awaken the ancient warrior fire guarding the inner guide
Destroy the effects of any demonic pill
That has weakened diluted or subdued my sovereign will
The psychic feeding parasites under our ancestral skin
Eliminate these generational patterns for me and my kin

Make crystal my intention
A solid gold path my direction
To dissolve their deep resistance with compassion and see
That their judgments and projections were never directed at me

Seeing in person after binge listening to hundreds of his podcast episodes in lockdown was a treat. The podcast played a foundational part in first opening up my mind in many ways and helping me during low points. Would love to share some insights with you based on his Thrive seminar:

🧠 Mindset: In this culture we are programmed at a young age to outsource our inner expertise. Especially in the Western reductionist health model. We are bombarded with infinite knowledge but no inner expertise or autonomy. Upstream, this is a mindset shift from victim identity to an architect creator mindset.

🌟 Values: Passion is vital and important to human health not just 'a thing on the side'. This creates vitality in human life: from salsa dancing to even toy train collecting. Dr Chatterjee gave examples of radical transformations in people's health, work and relationships by pursuing their passions.

🏹 Action: Why do people struggle with action, even when knowing what they should do? Struggling saying no, people-pleasing and lack of clarity on their values, leads to internal insecurity on their self concept. This stops individuals from aligning their time and energy into purposeful actions.

🪷 Dr Chatterjee emphasised this modern comfort culture is slowly killing us. Phones steal the natural micro moments of solitude and reflection. Children now run 1 mile, 90 seconds less than 20 years ago. To thrive we must embrace discomfort by taking steps into intentional discomfort.

Such a simple yet powerful way of explaining to the public on a practical level.

Thank you Dr Chatterjee for first introducing me to so much knowledge over the years, (your awesome singing 😎) and changing my mindset to health. 🙏🏽

"Please forgive me, but I would just like to have my thoughts, emotions, opinions, insights and ideas validated."

This is a powerful response and prayer if you ever feel you have not been given permission to express yourself or faced judgement.

Who is at fault?

Having our inner world validated in family, friends and community is healthy. It is a primary marker of grace, compassion and love in a culture.

If you feel shame, shut down, criticised and gaslighted without feeling heard, this could stunt your growth and natural talents, trapping us in a victim mindset construct. Keeping us from daring to dream and following our heart.

This can often happen in South Asian & immigrant households where 1st and 2nd generations did not have the opportunity to validate and regulate their own nervous system due to socio economic factors. It could look like walking on egg shells when trying to have a conversation with someone and sacrificing your needs.

This can then lead to the same patterns on work dynamics and relationships as we play out the masculine feminine dynamics taught to us. This is often given the colloquial term as 'good girl or good boy' programming. Equally being rebellious to this energetic dynamic still entraps us in an escape paradigm in the opposite pattern rather than transcending it.

Often we are told not to seek validation, but I believe it is an important part of the human experience when we experience doubt or lack of self worth to have support in a community/sangat.

Take time to validate yourself and seek those who can also validate your experience as the whole hearted unique conscious being that you are.

When I gave myself more permission I was able to accept without judgement my own vision and have deeper dialogues on the podcast. It's something that I feel all the guests have embodied to a deeper degree of self acceptance.
