This week, we start in South Africa where Oscar Coetzee was 6th, 1st Vet 🥇 in Saturday's WPA 8k XC League Meeting in Cape Town 🇿🇦👏

In Spain, on the same day, it was 'muy bien hecho' to Kenny Osborne, who was 1st MV40 at the 7k Cursa Marinera in Majorca with 24:56🥇🇪🇦

Onto Sunday, and it was the Men's 10K and Womens 10k in Glasgow ♂️♀️ a fantastic 26 club members marshalled at the Riverside Museum start point, and along the route itself 🦺 first off were the men, when it was still cool and breezy on the clydeside/city centre route 🏢 great running by Sean Coyle 35:49 3rd M35🥉 Bryan Mulgrew 36:10, Jordan Davidson 37:06, Jamie Robinson 38:16 3rd M40🥉 Michael Rice 38:27, Jamie Wieland 41:11, Benji Scragg 41:46 PB 🤩 Al MacLachlan 42:38 1st M65 🥇🥳 then it was our ladies, who had to contend with the mid-morning heat 🥵 well done to Cara Thom 40:35 4th overall, 3rd OF🥉Chelsea Cruikshank 42:15, Jen Conway-Evans 44:07 2nd F35🥈 Stef Boyle 51:20, Katherine Wainwright 54:57, Lynn Cu***ng 1:20:42 👏

It was also a very warm day at the challenging Girvan Half Marathon on Sunday ⛰️ well done to our two hardy Bellas down in sunny Ayrshire, Tomoyo Fujiwara 2nd lady🥈 & Alejo Rodriguez 👏

Well done to Laurence & Lucy Prior at the Ironman 70.3 Luxembourg on Sunday 🚴‍♂️🇨🇵🏃🏼‍♂️🇱🇺 unfortunately the swim was cancelled due to algae in the water, but the 56 mile bike ride and Half Marathon were challenging enough, especially in 33°C heat 🥵

Last week had a variety of races, from west coast to east ↔️ and way further south ⬇️

Wednesday was the Kilpatricks Hill Race ⛰️ 6.8k with over 350m of climbing from Old Kilpatrick and back 🥵 well done to Sam Ramsay 39:17 2nd MV40🥈& Calum Brown 39:36 🙌

Well done to Stuart Laurence, who finished 2nd🥈at the 7 mile Maryhill Harriers Kenny Stevenson Memorial Trail Race in Blanefield, on wet but warm Friday evening 👏

Down in a much sunnier Australia on Saturday 🇦🇺 Poppy Bowie recorded a brilliant PB of 1:29:52 at the Gold Coast Half Marathon 🤩 another excellent performance from our Poppy 👏

Saturday also saw Harris Millar in action at the Harris Half Marathon 🚢 a fine finish of 1:36:00 meant Harris was the first Harris home on the day 😜

Sunday saw the 14.3 mile Seven hills of Edinburgh Race and Challenge ⛰️ well done to Lewis Roberts 2:01:07 in the Race 👏 and to Ruth McKelvie 2:49:24, Allan McDermid 3:01:28 & Keir Gowan 3:35:31 in the Challenge 👏

And, as always, well done at parkrun 🌳 inc. Ross Horgan & Craig Ross 1st at Linwood & Agnew🥇🥳 Emma Queenan & Louise Ross 1st ladies at Mace Ranch 🇺🇸 & Agnew🥇🥳 Hannah Berry, Claire Wharton, Lyndsay Kennedy & Mhairi Gervais 2nd ladies at Queen's, Linwood, Largs & Anagach Woods🥈 Al MacLachlan hit 5️⃣0️⃣ parkrun locations at Newbiggin-by-the-Sea 👍🏖

And to top it all off, we had another visit from our new favourite feline friend at our latest track training session 🐈‍⬛ such a cool cat, and thankfully happy in lane six this week! 💜🤍🖤

Well done again to our Vets at the Scottish Veteran Harriers Club - SVHC 5k in Clydebank last Wednesday 👏 thankfully, it was a wee bit cooler for those racing at the weekend 💜🤍🖤

On a thundery and wet Friday night, it was the Calderglen Harriers 10k Trail Race ⛈️🌳 a great trail event and one of our off-road championship races 🏁 Simon Wells 42:25 3rd🥉Sam Ramsay 45:55 2nd MV45🥈Calum Brown 46:41 3rd Msnr🥉Claire Wharton 52:41 2nd FV55🥈Tomoyo Fujiwara 57:37 3rd FV50🥉Simon, Sam & Calum were also 2nd male team🥈👏

Way out west in the Outer Hebrides on Saturday, a fab four Bellas ran the Barrathon HM 🚢 the Barra-bados weather was gone to leave a warm, overcast day 😁 well done to Wallace Gray 2:05:48, Louise Gray 2:17:22, Terry Nimmo 2:25:40, Alison Brown 2:35:27 (and former Bella, Lynn Reid) 👏

On Sunday, it was closer to the mainland on the Isle of Arran 🚢 our brilliant Cathy Wood ran the hilly Arran Runners Half Marathon in a great time of 1:35:37 to finish 1st lady 🏆🥇🥳 an excellent performance in tough, windy conditions around Shiskine Valley 🫡 and well done to Cathy's mum Frances, who was 1st FV60 😁👏

Also on Sunday, the amazing Lucy MacKay ran the very windy Solway Coast Marathon ⛰️🌪 finishing 3rd FV60 in 4:56:07 👏
