On Saturday, Lenzie Bowling Club held our annual Mixed Charity Game, raising an incredible £3,135 for this year’s club charity, Maggie’s, chosen by our Ladies and Gents Presidents. Our Maggie’s ambassador, Elaine, joined us on the day and gave a thoughtful and inspiring insight into the vital work the charity provides.
We had 56 bowlers on the green playing 13 ends, followed by a lovely buffet meal enjoyed by all. After the meal there seemed to be the biggest raffle ever seen at the club and the winners were also announced for the auction. Anybody with any strength left then returned to the green for some fun games and more prizes.
A huge thank you to every player, helper, and supporter who made the day so special. We are also extremely grateful to all members who generously donated prizes for the auction and raffle.
Thanks as well to Stewart Kerr for capturing the day so beautifully and allowing us to share his photos on Facebook.
Finally, on behalf of Jim Munro (Gents President) and Linda McFarlane (Ladies President), thank you for your wonderful support, your contributions to such a worthy cause, and the friendship and spirit that make our club what it is.

DBA Top Ten update:
There was a tense finish to our Top 10 match against Clydebank this evening, after a win in the Singles and a loss in Triples, saw the Pairs down and Fours ahead going into their last ends with only a three shot advantage to Lenzie across the total score.
Fortunately, Lenzie managed to keep the position exactly the same at the conclusion of the game, to win the round and set up a District Semi-Final match with Condorrat next Thursday.

Unusually, weather-wise, its to be a cracking couple of days, so slap on the sun-cream and try to get along to add some some support while enjoying some refreshments!

Updates:
Unfortunately results have not gone the way of our Club today, starting with our K&D Senior Fours only getting one of the two wins required to be in with a chance of securing the League title. Congratulations go to Greenfaulds who finished top of the Wednesday Seniors League.
This evening our DBA Under 45s Four took on and lost out to Abronhill at Kirkintilloch to go out of the competition. Good luck to Abronhill in the future rounds.

We had a great afternoon at the Club when 42 members took part in an internal mixed two-bowl triples competition.
Seven rinks set on the green all being played on at the same time was a pleasing sight and rotation of the positions of play in each game was a great way for our newer bowlers to gain a wee bit of experience as well as getting to know more of the more established members.
Thoroughly enjoyed by all, but slightly more so by the winners, undefeated on the day, were Lexie Dowall, Andrew McCulloch and Rob McIlear.

Our hopes of reaching the national stages of the Top 5 Singles competition were dashed today, when Westerton secured the three wins required to win the Inter-District Final to progress to the County Finals and represent Dumbartonshire East going forward.
We wish them well in the remainder of the competitions.
Commiserations to the five Lenzie guys who battled hard today in challenging conditions, but for a wee rub of the green here and there, the result could have been different. There is still much to look forward to...
