East Renfrewshire Golf Club has been fortunate to enjoy remarkable continuity in the care of its course throughout its history.
Since Mr Mathieson was first appointed, the club has had only six Head Greenkeepers/ Course Managers – a testament to the loyalty, dedication and expertise of those who have helped shape and maintain the course over the years.
One of those six was Jim Dobson, East Ren’s third Head Greenkeeper. In a wonderful twist of history, one of Jim’s final decisions before retiring was recruiting the last member of his greenkeeping team – Barry Nichol.
This year, the club proudly celebrates Barry’s 25th anniversary at East Renfrewshire Golf Club. Having progressed through the ranks, Barry has served as the ERGC Course Manager for almost five years, leading the continual improvement of the course and further enhancing its reputation across Scotland.
Today, East Renfrewshire Golf Club continues to receive annual recognition for the quality and presentation of the course.
As one of only six custodians to hold the club’s top greenkeeping position since Mr Mathieson’s appointment, Barry’s 25 years of service represent a significant milestone in the club’s history and a fitting opportunity to celebrate his outstanding contribution to East Ren.
All at the club look forward to hosting the testimonial event for Barry later in the year on the 26th of September.
